Had a contract for an ad on the back of a local grocery store register tape with Market Tech Media.  The start date came and went...no ad.  They charge my credit card for $800...no ad.  Called...no response.  Emailed...returned as undeliverable.

Finally got an email to the ad copy lady who informed me that our ad was running.  Funny thing was the grocery store didn't have the tapes.  She actually gave me a number to call (that worked) where I was told that they had a delay in printing...so sorry.

The time was running out to contest the charges on the credit card, so I filed a complaint.  This is their trick.  To make you wait long enough that you can't get a credit from your card company.  Needless to say they are fuming mad now and will turn me over to the collection company (for their total breach of contract).

Don't trust this company.  They have way to many sneaky lines in the contract such as "this contract is non-cancellable by advertiser".  Since when is a contract that they breach- non cancellable?  Anyway they still have not put our ad on the tapes and we are still getting threats from them...Beware.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Look for the Tape

AUTHOR: Casey - (United States of America)

Hi,

It is probable that your tape was printed and sent to the store in question, but just not installed.  Go to the store and ask for the Front End Manager.  Explain that you are not sure that the tape has been installed yet ( BE POLITE) and ask him to look for the tape.  They come in white boxes with purple lettering.

Many times, the tape arrives in the store, but the Front end Mgr does not have anyone assigned to install it.

I would be willing to bet that the tape is there, but that the mgr just has not done his job.

If this is the case, please let us know.

Thanks and have a great day.

Casey

Still No Tapes

AUTHOR: rebecca - (United States of America)

Thanks for the insight.  We have talked to the manager(s) and we were told that the tapes are free to the store so if they had received them they would definitely be using them and not purchasing blank ones at a cost.  This makes sense to me.

We have continued to go to the store only to receive blank register tapes.  Our employees and some of our customers that shop there are also turning them in to us- all blank.  Start date was Oct.  The proof is on the paper and there is nothing there day after day.

The credit card company did give us back a credit but MTMC Collections (there own company) is now contacting us for payment.  Pretty bad when you have to have your own in-house collections company.  Guess we will be headed to small claims court.
