I received a seemingly genuine/official notice in the mail that stated that I was a finalist to win a two-million-dollar prize. I initially suspected that it was a notice from Publishers Clearing House (which I enter on a regular basis), and replied according to their instructions.

I realized too little too late that nowhere on the official notice did it actually say the notice was from PCH itself. It did, however, mention a "NextGen, Inc" on the small "Official Rules" leaflet enclosed. I immediately knew I'd been ripped off and did a thorough search on this company.

Do not fall for this, especially if you regularly play the lottery / enter other sweepstakes.
