Was going to a funeral and pilot canceled flight because they could not service and empty oxygen bottle.

Tried to rebook but no flight could get me there before funeral was over.

I was using frequent flier miles and they are charging me $150.00 to put the miles back into my account.

This there fault the flight was cancelled  Why should it cost me?

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Next Time Use a Bereavement Fare

AUTHOR: Karl - Clovis (U.S.A.)

Airlines have a Bereavement Fare for unplanned personal travels due to sickness, death, hospitalization etc. and will make arrangements to get to there as fast as possible. Next time ask for a Bereavement Fare instead of using FF Miles. United charged you to put the miles back in your account. They could have rebooked you so they would have gotten you eventually to where you were going. You chose not to take the new flight (for whatever reason) so they charged you simply to put the miles back. This complaint is not United's fault.

#2 Consumer Comment

Sorry

AUTHOR: Michael - Glendale (U.S.A.)

Wow, I'm sorry.  That is not a good situation.

Unfortunately, United makes it very clear when you redeem miles that there will be a charge to return them to your account. if you do not use them.  They will re-book your for free until they are used, but re-depositing them has a fee.

You should try e-mailing them, and hopefully as a gesture of good will, they will refund you, or at least give you a voucher.

Good luck.
