I booked airline tickets through vipfares.com in July 2004 for 5 people and paid for the protection plan $19.95/per ticket. One traveler was unable to fly due to doctor's orders and I sent a copy of the doctor's note to the email addresses listed on my confirmation email before the scheduled trip at the end of July. I have tried to reach vipfares by phone multiple times since then to determine how they will refund the ticket and have not had any satisfactory response.

Typically the phone is busy or no answer. I was able to reach Globe travels who does their bookings and they gave me a mailing address for vipfares. When I sent them correspondence, it was returned to me as no such address. I am not giving up but I recommend that you NOT use vipfares.com!!!!!!

VIPFares

AUTHOR: Chris - Loveland (U.S.A.)

I used to work for VIPFares, its owned by a company called "Globedat", which is ran by Sam Jain. (google for efront media.. the same guy that screwed half the internet out of money). He also owns WinAntiVirus, AMXTravel, among others. Anyway, this company is not only shady, but it uses VirtuMonde to advertise -- thats right, spyware. Many of the sites download a plugin, which is the spyware.

VIPFares and AMXTravel are both very bad sites ran by very bad people. Thats why its so hard to find out who owns all these sites.

Sam was just sued by Symantec for selling counterfit Norton software, they won 3.1 Million from him. His co-defendent, James Reno, CEO of ByteHosting Internet Services, is also Globedat's active CTO. He is just as bad as Sam when it comes to screwing people out of money.

Anyway, all the mentioned companies are horrible. Avoid them at all costs, trust me.

update

AUTHOR: Beatnikjd - Wynnewood (U.S.A.)

Everyone should be pleased to hear that Sam Jain is now a fugitive from justice and James Reno has had all his assets frozen due to actions of the FTC regarding the notorious winfixer and other rogue anti virus programs. The FTC has recovered some of Reno's IM conversations where he admits knowing about the winfixer scam. He is trying to deny his relationship with the cybercriminals in the Ukraine where the rogue programs came from. Hopefully all involved will go to jail where they will be Bubba's jailhouse wife!
