The Guaranteed Air Fare Rule is a ripoff and a scam.

US Airways has a "Guaranteed Air Fare Rule", which offers customers a voucher if there is a drop in ticket price. However, US Airways charges $150.00 change fee on domestic tickets and $250.00 change fee on international tickets. These extremely high change fee, in effect, wipes out any savings a customer would have gotten on any drop in ticket price.

A perfect example is, if someone was to book a ticket for international travel, at say $1000.00 and the ticket price drops to $749.00 (or $251.00), the customer would only receive a voucher for $1.00.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Apples and Oranges

AUTHOR: Karl - Clovis (U.S.A.)

You are comparing apples and oranges. A voucher for a fare reduction doesn't involve changes. If a ticket cost you $1000 and the fare was reduced to $900 you should get a voucher for $100. This doesn't involve a change of itinerary or flight. You pay the change fee regardless of any fare reduction but only if you are changing flight or itinerary.

#2 Consumer Comment

NOT Apples and Oranges

AUTHOR: Ripped - Keywest (U.S.A.)

US Airways states that they will charge the Change Fee, when you ask for the Low Fee Guarantee. In reality, this is no guarantee. You could have yourself cancelled the original flight, paid a change fee of $150, and re-booked the same flight, at the New , Lower price. So, they are not providing you with any benefit. If this is not a Rip-Off, what is?

#3 Consumer Suggestion

I Apologize

AUTHOR: Karl - Clovis (U.S.A.)

If that is the case then it IS a rip off. I always travel Southwest domestically. If SW doesn't go to where I'm going I get as close as possible and rent a car. I gave up on US Airways years ago along with Delta, AA and United.
