Lori,
We also got screwed by Amy. Not once but twice. Last fall we purchased a male from her. When we got him home (he was 8 months) he wouldn't eat and kept throwing up. Upon taking him to the vet we learned that he had one of the worst cases of roundworms my vet had ever seen. We called Amy back to see when he was wormed and of course she said my vet knew nothing. Although the dog basically had spaghetting coming from his rear because of all of the worms. Two weeks, good food and tons of wormer later he was fine.
Sadly, we wanted to get a buddy for him and just assumed it might have been an error on her part. So we gave her the benefit of the doubt and purchased a female from her as a buddy for my male dog. We got her around the same time you got yours. I wonder if they are related? My female Bella is a solid black brindle with a little white on her chest. When we picked her up she was in the back of Amy's truck with no collar and she smelled worse than a farm full of pigs. We were given two white pills that Amy claimed to be wormers. We knew we were in for it then. Knowing the previous experience we had with her we took the puppy to the vet 4 days after we got her home. The vet gave her all of her shots and looked her over. She was breathing a little strange but the vet couldn't find anything to be really worried about. We presented him with the pills that Amy gave us only to find out that they were anti-biotics and not wormers. 3 or 4 days later we had to rush Bella back to the vet because she could barely breathe and she had large amounts of yellow snot coming from her nose. Well, she had pneumonia. Hundreds of dollars and heartbroken weeks later she survived. The vet said we should have known better because of the condition the male was in but we gave her the benefit of doubt. We too had to wait months for her papers. We were told in Dec they would be available in 2-3 weeks. A month went by and i started emailing Amy weekly. 3 Months later after countless BROKEN promises we still had nothing. After my husband threatened to sue her and turn her into the IRS we finally received papers for our puppy. However, we are doubtful they are actually her papers. The birthdate is a month older than Amy told us and the parents names are no where close to what she had on the website when the puppies were being advertised. She also told us she wasn't the breeder but only got the litter because she gave the mom to someone. However, she is listed as the breeder on the papers we have. The transfer date also says 2-19-09 but we got the dog 12-03-2008.
For anyone considering doing business with her please stay away. Her puppies are cute but they are not healthy.

GO SEE THE KENNEL! If it is not clean, the puppies and adults not clean and in good shape (weight, medical issues, exercise) don't buy. There are way too many people trying to make a buck by breeding dogs. Its not a money making proposition to do it right. When you do it right, you take them to the vet, you actually feed them good food, you put them in a clean air conditioned (heated/cooled) kennel (puppies). Most of all, you are happy to have visitors anytime. Those who hide or say "we are too busy" "we dont allow visitors" etc, you now know why. The dogs are filthy, they are sick, and the kennels are pens that havent been cleaned for ages. I cannot speak about this particular kennel, however I am speaking in general, go visit. If you cannot visit, consider finding someone local. With the internet, its not as hard as you think.

Nickname, the sad thing is we did see her kennels. We had to go to pick up her male and even though we were disgusted to say the least we still bought not one but two dogs from her. I only did the female because she claimed to have only had her for 2 weeks. We've learned our lesson believe me. She feeds all of her dogs Dog Chow whether they are puppies or adults. My dogs eat Orijen with raw meat mixed in. The older dogs are kept in various pens around her trailer trash yard and the mothers in puppies are kept in this god awful outside shed barn looking small building in nasty pens with no air or heat and no air moving through. Like I said we should have known better. I just don't want people to make the same mistake. Luckily my dogs had fixable things and not horrible deadly diseases. She has sold a puppy to a family that died of parvo and a couple that have bad demodex. Again, mine only had small issues that were treatable but thankfully we did have the money for the vet bills. I'd to think what would have happened if we didn't.
If you are considering a puppy from Thunder Hollow Kennels, please o" please look elsewhere.

Just an update to this post. Both dogs developed a Red rash on there skin about 8-10 weeks ago. Thinking it was food related I put them on a Lamb Grain free Food vs the Chicken. However, two different vets have confirmed they both have Demodex Mange. Both vets seem to concur that it is a genetic condition as it is generalized and not local. However, my third dog and american bulldog female shows no signs. We purchased her from a breeder who had excellent references and a solid clean kennel.
Please people, do not do business with Amy Herman. You will be sadly disappointed if your Pup even survives long enough to develop anything else.

OKay, we should not have said the below the belt things about Amy such as the trailer trash but we were upset because of our sick animals. Our Character judgements of her were not fair and we do apologize for that. However, we still did receive two sick animals from her kennel.

Im sorry that you had problems with Amy or her dogs. We also got a pup from her. The puppy was and is healthy. She's now 2 and is a perfect example of the breed. We asked a lot of questions before we purchased her, and a few once we got her home, and she always responded. The papers came in a reasonable time frame too.
Ive also referred people that like my dog to her, and no one that I know has had any issues with her or pups they've rec'd. We find they do best on Wellness mixed with Purina 1- no soy, none of the superhigh protein dog foods, but that's just a bulldog thang, not because of an issue with her lines.
Again, Im sorry others have had issues, but I did have to say that not all of her pups have problems, and not everyone has had issues with her personally.
