I paid for Amanda to come to my house 3 times per day for 5 days while I was out-of-town. She came to my house, and claimed to have 5 years of experience, tons of references, and had a huge form for me to complete. I paid her the money,signed the forms, and let her meet my dogs. I happily left on vacation, certain my dogs were in good hands.
My plane was delayed on the way home and when I tried to call Amanda, I got no response. Fortunately, I was only about 4 hours late, but I thought it strange that I couldn't reach her. When I arrived home it was obvious she hadn't been there in at least 2 days! My poor doggies! ! ! !
When I came home, there was no water, and the dog food was at the exact same level as when I left 5 days earlier ! ! ! After rushing my dogs outside, it was obvious it had been a while since they had been outside. They were hungry, dehydrated, and starved for attention.
I checked with my neighbor (she is homebound and notices everything.) She said Amanda had only come three times the entire time I was gone (I paid for her to come 3 times her day for a total of 15 times.) She said Amanda had not been there at all the last 2 days. My neighbor felt really bad that she hadn't called me, but she figured that maybe I had changed my plans and had Amanda board the dogs for me. How I wish my neighbor had called me on my cell phone!
I was horrified! My dogs are like children to me. I could have borded them anyplace, but thought they would be happier at home. I have a neighbor teen who could have done it, but I thought it would be so much better to have a "professional" do it. I can't tell you how guilty I feel about what my poor doggies went through.
When I returned home, I tried to call Amanda for several days, but her cell phone was not accepting calls. She did not respond to emails either. The next day, her website, www.theposhpoochie.com, disappeared from the web and has since remained down.
Please don't leave your pets in this person's care. You may come home and find your precious pets dead!
