Beware of David Mitchell/Trugon Ranch/Sleepy Sheep Ranch!!

At first, David seems like a genuinely likable person. He’ll promise you the world, and it’s easy to fall for. We purchased what was advertised as a REGISTERED AQHA mare a little over a year ago. For us, it was quite a bit of cash, but he offered to let us split it between paychecks. The horse was professionally trained and registered so we figured it would be worth it. A year and a half later, we STILL haven’t received the papers for her.

We have tried to contact David and we have gotten absolutely no where. He has now stopped responding to emails period. He kept telling us that “He didn’t have them, but was going to have them the next time we came out…” Then he told us that if we didn’t take the horse home that we would have to pay boarding fees for him to keep her while we waited on the papers. We had already spent quite a bit so we took the horse home before we were ever given her
registration. BIG MISTAKE! We also paid for a current coggins and we never received that either.

From what I’ve read, many others have gone through the same thing as we have. David has obviously gone through life using his charm to get his way, while lying to people’s faces. We have tried to come to an agreement regarding the registration; however, David is unwilling to talk. We either want the papers or a refund for part of the purchase price. A registered mare is what we paid for and we have copies of her being advertised as registered!
