On Jan 12th 2010 I drove almost 4 hours one way to meet the owners of Luv- A - Bull ( English Bulldog breeders).  They did not seem to want to meet me at there home and that was my first mistake.  They said they would meet me half way there since it was such a long drive for me. My gut said No, NO , No but the pic of the puppy was soo stinking cute that my heart said for me just to step out of my comfort zone for once and do it. I was raised with the breed and I knew darn good and well that a responsible breeder would show you there kennel and there other dogs.

However, I went with my heart and paid them 1000.00 bucks for a 16 week old female English bulldog. I was greeted by a tall slender man who said his name was " Wes" and a heavier set women  who said her name was " Mandy". I sat down with them and breifly went over the health guarantee.  I noticed on the car ride home that our new puppy had a horrific smell to her and it was unusal however I went on.I followed the health guarantee that stated to take the puppy within 72 hrs to a licensed Vet and have her exaimed.

Her first examination came back fine. She was healthy and cleared to go. We took her back around a month later to have her next set of shots administred and she was diagnosed with a Grade 1 luxating patella of the left stifile joint. I was in complete shock and asked what this was and was told it was a herditary issue. I contacted the breeders about the situation and nothing. They just ignored the phone calls and email.

Hmmm, this is when the red flags really went up. However, I did tell them that I did not want a replacement puppy at that time because we loved her. We just wanted them to be aware that there female had passed a herditary issue on to our puppy since they were listing these pups on Kijiji.com for 1800.00 originally . At that last vet visit my bulldog was not able to obtain her set of shots because she had 5-6 small puss filled blisters on her belly and was put on anti biotics. ( This was maybe a month after recieveing her) . Approximently 3-5 days maybe at the most a week  later my bulldog began to loose hair on her head. My Vet thought that it was an allergy to either the medicine or something in her new enviroment or food or something.  I FINALLY found a Vet that had seen this before after the puppy suffered for almost 2 months and he done a skin scrapping on her and it came back positive for demodectic mange.

I had NO IDEA what this was. I totally freaked out for I have another bulldog at home. I thought maybe she could get it . I was informed by the Vet that demodectic mange is herditary and passed only from mother to pup. At this point in time the Vet told me to have my female spayed DO NOT BREED HER. I contacted the breeder and surprise no response. The  best part is they know that they are selling puppys with this because upon further examination of this wonderful "  health guarantee" it states  that " There are certain disorders that may be caused by enviromental factors for example: allergies, thyroid dysfunction, demodectic mange, and other autoimmune disorders that are not covered in this guarantee." Really thyroid issues and mange is considered an enviromental issue??

They sure were quick to answer the phone and emails when I wanted to buy a puppy from them. Now that there is an issue they are un contactable. Amazing since they advertise with the internet and they both have Facebook accounts. They do not have a website that I know of . However , look them up on Facebook and pass the word along to help stop these people from breeding. This breed has enough health issues the way it is - ridiculous issues as mange mites that can be stopped by spaying the dog should not be an issue in this breed!! These people are  BACK YARD HILL JACK BREEDERS  DO not buy a puppy from them!!!

Wesley & Mandy Pyle with Luv-A-Bull Bulldogs

AUTHOR: Wesley & Mandy Pyle with Luv-A-Bull - (United States of America)

My name is Wesley Pyle and my wife and I have had a false complaint reported by Mrs. Heather Ming. As she stated she purchased a puppy from us Jan 12th of 2010, then she said that we prefered to drive 4 hours and meet her instead of her coming to our home. That is not true, the reason we meet was because that is what we both agreed on. And I do deliever within 200 miles at no additional charge, because we do not put our puppies on planes. So if she wanted to make the complete trip then she was more then welcome that would have saved me a 8 hour round trip and the cost in gas. Then she stated that we breifly went over the guarantee which is another lie. We meet at a mcdonalds so we could sit down and go over the puppy pack that each new family recieves. In this pack we go over the registration, Info on do's and don'ts that refer to the breed, Food information, vaccines, and the vet check that each puppy recieves at 6 weeks, Health guarantee, then each family fills out a info sheet for our records so we can keep in touch. That don't sound to breif to me. Then she wanted to say that the puppy smelled horrific on her way home, each of our puppies are raised in our home and are cleaned and bathed before going to there new homes, along with the puppy packs everyone recieves Eukanuba puppy food, puppy treats, toys, baby shampoo and other items. Sounds like alot for some backyard breeders as she referred to us. We are not even breeders, we raise 1 to 2 litters a year. Now to the health issues, she states that she did take the puppy to her vet within the recommended time and her vet gave the puppy a clear check and said she was good to go. Then on the next visit the puppy had Luxating Patella which she says is genetic and it can be, but it also can be from BLUNT TRAMA. Then the next month she had Demodectic mange, now keep in mind she has another 4 year old bulldog. Back to point deodectic mange is past on to every puppy the first few days of life via cuddling and nursing from the mother. Most dogs live in harmony with their mites, never sufffering any consequences from being parasitized. If how ever conditions change to upset the natural equilibrium the mites may gain the upper hand. Demodectic mange is not considered a contagious disease and isolation of the affected dog is generally not necessary. That said, there are some circumstances under which the mites could spread from one dog to another. she did contact us and sent a picture, in which we took to our vet and he said that it did not look like demodectic, he also noticed there other dog in the back ground with signs of a skin  condition. and yes like our guarantee says thyriod, mange, and autoimmune can be caused by enviromental factors REALLY. So it sounds like maybe her enviroment could be a factor. We was tring to help and figure out what was the problem until the next day we had animal control come to the house for a welfare check because they had been notified about the dogs poor conditions. And she was more than welcome, she actually laughed after seeing our dogs and said they live better than most people. As for the mother and litter mate they both have showed no signs of any problems, and the family that has the litter mate has purchased another puppy and refered several others. My wife and I have dealed with the breed for 12 years and I can say that Mrs.Ming has been our only complaint. And as she said we are on facebook you can look us up at luvabullbulldawgs. Thank you
