A relative had a sweet litter of Dalmation/Retreiver mix puppies. In early April 2009,I advertised them for sale on Rollanet.com basically just covering the cost of their puppy shot and wormings they had received. Lisa Hirst from St Louis Pound Puppies emailed me numerous times stating she wanted them all. All 7 of them. She went on to tell me she would adopt them in Fenton, MO at the PetCo. I told her if that was the case, she could have all 7 puppies for $70.00and I would drive the 145 miles round trip to St James, Mo to meet her.The date to meet was changed a couple times due to her husband hurting his back. Regardless I met her and assume she would reimburse me when she took the puppies. She then told me after she had the puppies in her van she was Rescue and DID NOT pay for puppies.

I told her this was for the shot and wormings and a little bit of gas money as gas wasn't cheap. She sais to send a statement and receipts for the shoots and wormings and she would pay as soon as she recieved it.
I went home and sent a copy of the shot and wormings bill and she responded with an email stating she would send it out asap. I also have kept all corresponding emails so I have all the proof to back this up. This is NOW June 18th, 2009.

I am convinced this so called "Rescue" does this alot. By that I meancombing the ads online and in newspapers puppies for sale or free to take them and resale them at PetCo and turn a profit. I must say Lisa Hirst is slick and says all the right things.
Beware of St Louis Pound Puppies.

Rescue Rip-Offs

AUTHOR: Rick - Ava (U.S.A.)

I've heard a considerable number of similar stories about other rescues. Some would absolutely blow your mind. I've also heard about some underhanded tactics used when folks complain.

If folks posted their experiences at the Rip-Off Report site, at least others would have a place to check things out prior to making any agreements.

Please keep us posted as to how your situation turns out.

Rescue Helped Place Puppies in Loving Forever Homes- Confused in Ulman, MO

AUTHOR: Lisa Hirst Owner/Founder - Fenton (U.S.A.)

Dear Shelia,

I am very sorry about all the confusion- I see you are very upset and I want to be sure I explain the situation in a bit more detail so you understand why we we able to help you by accepting your puppies in our NO KILL organization to find loving forever homes, but were not able to pay for them.

We are not a puppy store, but a NO KILL, all foster home rescue organization. I told you I could pay you for their shots and deworming only. When I arrived at our meeting location you had no proof of any such vet work. Therefore, I explained BEFORE the dogs were moved into my rescue van that I was unable to pay without those records. You agreed to mail the records to me as you had drove at least one hour to meet us.

The puppies arrived at my home about an hour later and following my rescue protocol, I immediately bathed each one for fleas and ticks. They were covered in fleas that mostly washed off in their baths. I litteraly spent three hours pulling ticks from the litter of puppies. They were treated with prescription Frontline to prevent future investation or investation to other animals.

The puppies were then isolated in a large pen and could not attend adoption events or interact with any other animals until your promised vet proof arrived.

The vet work arrived a couple weeks later to my home address. I was surprised to see a simple piece of ripped notebook paper with handwritten dates to represent the booster shots given to the puppies- I did not feel it was adequate proof of booster shots or puppy dewormer. I immediately took the puppies to our local vet and had booster shots and dewormer administered to protect them against disease and worms.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion as to why I did not pay you to help you rehome your puppies. If you were looking to sell the puppies you should not have contacted a rescue group for help. That is not what we are about.

As for the puppies: They have all found loving forever homes and have been spayed/neutered and seen a licensed vet several times since they left our rescue. A couple of families have brought them back to visit us since their adoption. It is so rewarding to see a job well done.

Thank you.

Not the Truth

AUTHOR: anonymous - ULMAN (U.S.A.)

Lisa Hirst was mailed a detailed sheet of information on the puppies on the shots & wormer that was given, plus the original receipt where the shots and wormings were purchased from which was Hendley Farm Supply in Iberia, MO.
Her word was she would pay me for the shots/wormings plus small gas fee asap and I have the emails where she said she would pay, but was just behind on payment because of another litter of puppies getting Parvo/vet expenses.  She is simply a deadbeat that fishes for puppies to take in and resale at a later date with adoption fees. Beware of her ways. Rollanet has been notified of her practices, persons are aware to simple not give her dogs and puppies. Lisa Hirst has lied. I will be contacting PetCo in Fenton and the PetCo home office.
