I used to work for a company that was on ripoffreport.com, so I used to always kind of turn up my nose at this website. That was until I signed up for services with Azuma Appliance Leasing. We signed up for a washer/dryer unit, delivered September 16th 2008. When we signed up, they said it was $30/month, 3 month lease terms w/ a 50 dollar deposit. We paid 130 dollars in September, which would roughly reflect 3 months of rent and a 50 dollar deposit. I say roughly because there was supposed to be credit of some sort, so I didn't really pay attention to the amounts. Maybe that was my fault. Anyways, October rolled around and they said we owed them an additional 90 dollars because our credit report was bad. No one ever advised us of that when we signed up, PLUS we paid a deposit. As far as leasing something goes, you are made to pay a deposit if you have bad credit/rental history. So, we told them to come pick it up. I decided to check out azuma on rip off report.com today, and saw a WHOLE LIST of people with the same issues, saying that after they had them picked up, Azuma told them that they owed large amounts of money. I checked my online account, and they said we owed them 250 bucks!!!! I also noticed that people on rip off report reported that Azuma took the money out of their bank account. So the next thing we did, was call the bank. Luckily the bank is going to stop any payment from Azuma.
I don't usually complain about companies. I'm the type of person who pays her bills, if they say I owe for this that and the other, I'll pay. But this company's unsavory business practices are UNFAIR, and I am NOT going to pay that 250 bucks.
