I recently purchased a Crock-Pot Brand slow cooker from my local XSCargo store. Upon opening the package, I discovered that the product contained in the box was NOT the one depicted in the labeling on the package or advertised in the flyer. The little instruction and recipe book included was also specific to the model depicted on the box and in the flyer.
The product on the box has a programmable timer feature while the actual one in the box has no timer. Just ON/OFF, HI, MED and LOW. I purchased this one specifically for the timer feature.
I am a regular customer of XSCargo and have not had a problem buying anything from them in the past. I realize what type of business they do and am aware that they sell damaged, returned and refurbished goods as well as old stock and overstocks.
What I DO NOT expect is to buy one thing only to find a different thing in the box.
I tried to return the item the next day and they refused my request. The manager told me that this is the kind of thing that they sell and that I should be aware of that. She also stated that there could be ANYTHING in that box and I would still be stuck with it. She left me with the advice that I should contact their head office and appeal to the customer service dept. there as her hands were tied in this matter. I did so immediately and have, as yet, received no reply. She had the gall to say that I got a very good deal anyway and that I should be happy I got one at all for that price. I told her I would have been happy to pay double what I did (about $30 Can.) for the CORRECT item but that their store was the closest one to me and had the best price by about $5.
Needless to say, I will be more circumspect about shopping at XSCargo in the future.
