Park West Gallery - Park West At Sea inflated on-board pricing, 10x greater than comparables ripoff Southfield Michigan
On a recent Regent Seven Seas cruise, I purchased a work of art of Chagall from Park West Galley. The "bargain" on board turned out to be anything but. While Park West alleged the appraised value to be nearly twice what I paid, when I returned home I found recent auction prices for the same piece at approximately one tenth what I paid.
Park West refused to cancel the sale and offered only store credit. They say they cannot accept Internet pricing, even though the source I used for pricing was recommended by their sales agent and reports sales from auctions, not the Internet.
In fact, profesisonal appraisers use Artnet for pricing comparables in their work. I certainly can't trust their alleged market prices now and do not want their store credit. Park West will not cancel the sale, even though the piece has not been sent, quoting the ususal all sales final nonsense. And I thought they wanted to make customers happy!
