I recieved a phone call around last July offering Galmour magazine and others,plus various types of rewards and shopping sprees for $25.00 a month for a couple of years. I tried to tell them I wasn't interested yet they were very persistant. calling everyday multiple times (even thought my phone number was on the no-call registry) I was so sick of them calling every 5 seconds that i finally caved...i read magazines any ways and was told i could cancel at anytime so i was an idiot and gave them all the info they asked for including my credit card info...finally the calls stoped and forgot all about it. The next month I noticed two charges of $49.95 to my account. I called my credit card co. and they gave me a phone # to call. I did and it was World Wide Preffered Publishers and they informed me that I had okayed the $49.95 a month for 5 years,including Cosmo, glamour, elle, Women, US weekly, ETC. I then told the person i wanted to canel the subscription...i was then giving 3 different numbers to call, i called each, and each gave me a different number...i was getting sick of it so i finally said screw it, and cancelled my card, if they were going to cancel it i would cancel them! Well not long after i started to get calls, with each call i would explain my situation and how i had no problem paying for the issues i had recieved but that i would not pay 900.00 for a subscription that i will not and do not want to recieve...this went on for weeks, months and now years. I was recieving multiple calls a day...some even harrasing...i had to hang up on one man because he was threatning me!
This is all a joke in itself. They swore that had a recording of me okaying it all. I had no desire to hear for I KNEW they had doctored it to the convenience and I knew I had signed nothing. I knew they had lied no matter what they said and felt as though that voided all contracts that might have been also I never signed ONE thing.
After just recently getting married, trying to start and family and a new life i finally caved and tried to do a settlement...I am paying for something that i never wanted...this is pathetic...If there is any willing to help of start a class action suit please contact me. I know I can't be the only one out there. this has given me an ulcer and a huge cell phone bill that i shouldn't have to pay as well! Shelby
James in Bonaire, Georgia I had the exact situation happen...as you can tell since i used have your lingo...whats your status on this...i have a sister that works for the BBB and maybe she can help.
Why file a report here? Ripoff Report is a permanent record! Other complaint sites copy our content then remove reports for money.
