What type of lawyer is he? An Attorney in private practice or a Public Defender?? You stated both - BTW you cannot HIRE a Public Defender - the Taxpayers pay his salary

I see missing items in your story. Such as did this go to court. Did you plead guilty to the class C? Most important were you driving on a suspended license? If you were then yes he probably misled you about the suspension because the DMV can and will suspend your license for more than one violation.

As I see it while he may have not been completely forthright about this apparently you were stopped for driving on a suspended license. Whose fault is that?

Wow! We, too, have experienced exactly what the person who wrote this complaint described. Mr Countryman is a liar. He outright lied in open court to the judge. He stated that he just received the plea offer this morning to the judge when he had it for over a week and never showed it to the client, my friend. My friend never got to see a copy of the plea agreement before he was supposed to accept or reject it.  This lawyer spent less then 5 seconds with the client and that was in the courtroom. Promised over and over to visit him in jail. Never showed up. Never made any attempt at communication. The office girl covers up for Mr Countryman and she comes across as a cheap and  very unprofessional on the phone. She is very much the opposite of high class or professional. Seems as though, Mr Countryman has her trained to lie for him. Procrastination is everywhere in Mr Countryman's practice. He has no respect for anyone and has very bad manners and regularly talks down to people.  I am a professional with a doctorate degree and he would regularly call me "dear" in a condesending way like he was patting a little girl on the head. It's not that we discussed anything. This was when I was trying to schedule an appointment to go over the case material. He never cracked the file until seconds before court and he was regularly late for court appearances, once even by as much as 2 hours. He just kept post-poning court appearances with "continuances" because he was not prepared. He would not show my friend the evidence against him. He did not, to my knowledge, do any discovery. We have always been polite and respectful towards him. After my friend rejected the plea deal that he never saw, he attempted to call Mr Countyman's office and as soon as the office girl knew who it was, she hung up on him. He called back and got hung up on a second time. Mr Countryman is still representing the client at this time and he will not speak to his client. Also, I will agree with the writer of the original complaint that Mr Countryman has some serious racial issues.  He also has some serious self-esteem issues. He needs to get some self-esteem so that he can respect the self-esteems of others. He is really "involved" with himself. This person, in my humble opinion, is not a good choice for an attorney. He may have experience and qualifications, but he is not applying them to the client's case.  Mr Countryman, if you read this just remember that their is a Judge that does see everything and every tub sits on it's own bottom.
