At the outset I would say that you are certainly minimizing your own culpability in order to maxmize that of PPL. Whether or not your lawyer had shown up you would have likely received some sort of criminal sanctions.

However, when a lawyer fails to do his part and the result is more severe consequences than otherwise would have been received, that's a fairly clear episode of legal malpractice.

I don't know who is at fault, PPL or the lawyer (or maybe you missed a step in the process). But I would certainly go after the guilty party, at least by a small claims action (against PPL for breach of contract, or the attorney for malpractice, or both).

So what you're REALLY saying is that you found a convenient means whereby you can excuse yourself of any personal responsibility for your actions. This way you can blame your current station in life wholly on PPL and an absent lawyer.

Did PPL and/or the lawyer do you wrong? I have no reason to doubt you as far as that goes.

But your ex filed a restraining order against you for a reason, with enough supporting evidence, that caused the court to believe that you posed a threat. Apparently your ex had some pretty compelling reasons for wanting you to stay away. Restraining orders aren't handed out lightly.

Could things have turned out differently if you had a lawyer with you? Possibly, but there is certainly no guarantee of that.

At any rate, you knew a restraining order was in place, and YOU violated it, not PPL and not the lawyer. Funny how this minor detail is completely omitted from your report.

So you spent time in jail and incurred fines because YOU violated an order of the court, NOT because you lacked representation at the hearing. Your ensuing issues are further consequences of YOUR actions.

Your linear logic thus fails at the second link. PPL may have dropped the ball, but you picked it up and ran the wrong way down the field.

   This is in response to the gentleman who said prepaid legal left him without in his custody case. First of all sir as a client of PPL member services I have issues with several of your comments that do not seem factual, either by someone giving you wrong information or change in your services. You stated that PPL promised to represent you in a custody case, well...... As a person that uses the service faithfully I personally know that custody, is listed under "life Altering Event" which does not give anyone access to a lawyer for FREE. What happens in any major case (Life Altering Event), PPL allows you or better yet consults with you in its  Legal Consultation & Advice department in which you talk directly to a major ""AV" rated law firm. As anyone with legal experience can tell you 90% of most legal cases are solved here. They will also write letters and make phones calls on your behalf. This part of the service is unlimited, thats right unlimited, and believe it or not doesn't cost one red nickel. 

   Now as far as what PPL provides in major "Life Altering Events" i.e. murder, major theft, drug charges, rape, and divorce. Basically case that end up with a felony charge, separation of family, or a major money issues. In these rare cases PPL will still represent you with a top notch lawyer at a incredible discount!

I know what your asking "Well why have it?" Simple, because you need it. Let me explain. First of all make sure you are dealing with the Pre-Paid Legal Service, Inc. There have been several knock offs of the original PPL that has caused PPL a few headaches. The facts; PPl is a publicly traded company and has been serving north American families for more than 30 years. In 2007 it was rated by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 5 small business to invest in. Since 2000 in has enjoyed strictly positive growth with this last quarter being on of its best ever. Money magazine, Black Enterprise magazine, and even USA Today have said nothing but positive things about PPL.

 I know, I know you want to know about the services. PPL as you already know allows its member to unlimited legal consultation and advice. Thats right you get as many call to an attorney on almost any legal question on personal and business matters as well as preexisting conditions. You get Letters and hone calls on your behalf for just about any sublect matter. You also get contract and document review and yes this is unlimited. For example every time I buy a car or have a contract need to sign I send it to PPL. It has jet caused me a penny. When I had my will don this was 100% free and ask anyone that even a very simple will cost $200 to $500, plus the update it for free every year. It offers many motor vehicle legal service for example every time you get an ticket aka moving violation PPL WILL send a lawyer to represent you, damage recovery, driver license assistance, personal injury legal expense and this is just a few under PPL MVA services. But with out a doubt there free trail service has to be one of there gems. What do I mean by trail service. If you or your wife are named defendant in case were you are being sued PPL will cover a minimum of 60hrs in trail court. And yes the plan does cover you ,your wife and all dependents under 21. Imagine every time your child 16 to 21 get a ticket you get a lawyer for them at court. Which gives you a better chance in court. So thats it America, you get free consultation, phone calls , contract review, representation in traffic court, representation when sued, a free will and update of that will yearly, plus if you get in a LIFE ALTERING EVENT you get a AV rated lawyer at a bargain price. So yes America it worth $26 a month.

You read into it.  It was not a custody case.  Custody is what she ultimately got.  I am not blaming anyone for anything having to do with anything that was my fault.  I am merely stating the facts.  Take issue with whatever the hell you want.  I am stating the facts as they are.  I don't give a damn about who you are or how you think I am "making shit up" or whatever.  You have no damn clue and are altering what I said so you must work for their worthless company.  Good luck you clueless loser.

   First off, let me say that I am familiar with the Pre-Paid Legal service as I have it for myself. If anyone lied to you, it was the independent agent who sold you the policy. I know for a fact that when you become a member of this service, you don't automatically get an attorney to represent you for everything. The service you pay your membership fee is explained in the membership guide you should have received in the mail. If you did not read how it works, then shame on you for not becoming informed.

  When you contacted the attorney provider firm and told them your situation, they would have told you how much of a retainer you would have had to pay for that particular service and gone over your case with you. You would not have called the people at Pre-Paid Legal. Each state has their own legal provider firms, or did you not find that out as well? If you need legal assistance, you call the provider firm. They give you the guidance and advice you require so your whole post only represents your ignorance of the service and your lack of responsibility to find out how it even works. 

   Again, I reiterate that perhaps the person who sold you the policy lied to you to get you to buy it. But you should have read your membership package when you received it and learned what your coverage was. I have had to have one of the attorneys represent me, and I was told everything up front. I have yet to have a problem with Pre-Paid Legal and I have had the service for almost a year now.
