Attorney Stanley L. Cohen is a con artist. I have already reported him to the BAR!!
A few months ago I hired Mr. Cohen to represent me for an issue i was having. He agreed. He told me in order to represent me he will need a retainer fee upfront. I asked him how much was the retainer fee, and he reply to me he will charge me a discounted rate of $6,000.00, I agreed. But he demanded it be in cash, he told me he had some kind of problem with his account, and couldn't take a check, and he needed the money in cash. I paid him the 6000 in cash, and then the next day he disappeared with my money, and he disconnected his number 212 431 9553, I finally caught up to him at his other phone number, I found address to his other office and I went there in person, when he saw me he denied ever knowing me and he denied ever meeting me, and told me to get out or he will call the police. I am new in the United States of America, I didn't know how the systems work here, I didn't know how retainer fee should NEVER be paid in cash. I don't know what recourse to do or take, the police tell me its civil issue and that I have to take him to civil court.

A few of my colleagues in NY which seen this report contacted me and told me that there are more than one Stanley Cohen attorney in NY city, thus i took the initiative to post a picture of him so there will be no more confusion. And by the way, still no update, I still never recovered my $6000 that he stole.

Hello,
I don't believe this rip report about Stanley Cohen. Stanley represented me when I got myself in a bunch of trouble in New York in 1991. I found him kind,honest and non judgmental of me as a client.
He went way beyond the call of duty with me. He assisted my family in bailing me out of Jail.
He invited me into his loft and home in the lower east side to help prepare my case. I was Very Very impressed by him. His attitude towards me as a client is that a man is better than the worst thing he has done in his life.
In his office I saw publications of the high profile cases he has represented.
In the early 1980s, Cohen partnered with the self-described “radical attorney” William Kunstler, who had first come to prominence when he defended Tom Hayden and the “Chicago Seven” against charges of conspiracy to incite riots at the 1968 Democratic National Convention.
He represented the Mohawk Indian Tribe during a stand off with police in upstate New York Police shooting.
To Me the Guy(Stanley) is a Counter Culture hero that believes that EVERYONE has a Constitutional right for representation no matter how unpopular the case is. He treated me with respect and got the job job done I was SOOOoooo lucky to have him as my Attorney,he saved my ass.
My family also paid Stanley is case,now problem there, we were even $4000 short of his $10000 Attorneys fees and he worked with us,showed up in court for me anyway and did us right, and we payed him,he even worked on a sliding scale because he liked me and knew I didn't have allot of money.
So I don't believe this ripoff story ....AT ALL.Stanley would do that That's not Stanley Cohen I know....Not even close.
There is more to this story.

I don't usally post on the internet but I saw this and had to defend this man's honor. He saved me and my family a lot of trouble and for pennies compared to what we would have paid with another attorney.
He is honest, trustworthy and above all a great lawyer. I can't give specifcs about my case, but it was complicated and a longshot. But we won, all thanks to Mr. Cohen.
