I went to Best Buy 12/02 to buy a HP computer. In front of the store was a large poster that offered a $50 Best Buy gift card if you opened a Best Buy credit card account.

We signed-up and were approved for the Best Buy credit card. While applying for that card, the sales person told us we could receive another $25 gift card it we signed up for the Mastercard. We signed up. We bought our computer and spent $2300.

I was expecting to receive a Best Buy gift card for $50 when I received my Best Buy credit card. Instead, I received a mail-in voucher for a $25 Best Buy gift card---if I spent another $100. We were refused the Mastercard--that amazes me because I have stellar credit.

I e-mailed Best Buy about the offer and they told me it was Household's promotion so, I would have to contact them.

I contacted Household and they told me that I was not approved for the Mastercard and, therefore, could not get the $25 gift card. Additionally, if I thought the offer was misleading, I should go to the store and read the contract. Otherwise, I should contact their customer service dept.

I would like to know if other people felt mislead by this same poster. I feel cheated out of a $50 gift card--and I spent $2300.

Please contact me if you were mislead by this poster or if other Best Buys have done the same. I think Best Buy and Household need a class-action suit.

After reading some of these complaints, I am wondering if I was wise to get the 3 year warranties on the computer and printer. I am also wondering if I will receive the $200 rebate from Best Buy. Though I will say, in Best Buy's defense, I had a problem with my 15" LCD monitor and Best Buy replaced it. I also received my HP rebate in 4 weeks.
