BEST BUY STORES best buy retruns policy doesnt mention blackout dates flagstaff, Arizona

I purchased an MP3 player today (black friday 2009), i was asked to show my receipt on the way out, since i wasnt expecting this they caught me off guard as i dont feel they have the right to verify i paid for my purchase unless they have just cause, which they didnt.  I decided to return the mp3 player unopened about 20 minutes later after having lunch, i was told upon entering the store they arent taking returns today. 

I understand the store is busy, and the need sales staff and cashiers to check customers out, at the same time I doubt many customers wanted to return merchandise on black friday.  the return policy on the receipt and their web site do not indicate blackout dates for returns. 

I called the store, couldt get a rep so i called their corporate office, they called the manager and assured me they would make an exception.  i have no desire to return to that store again so i called another store in AZ (140 miles away)  will be traveling in that area next week, they assured me they would take the return and informed me they are also not taking returns today.  my request to speak with a manger or get the district managers contact information was declined.

this will result in a return trip to best buy using more of my time and resources.  last time i go to worst buy, will be going to (((competitor's name redacted))) to buy the same product at the same price as worst buy.

sorry, …allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome.
