Don’t make the same mistake I did.
I took my boyfriends guitar to Guitar Center to get new strings put on it. I thought it would be a nice thing to do for him. His guitar is his pride and joy.
I don’t know anything about guitars. I went to pick up the guitar the next day thinking I did a good thing. I was so happy when I gave him his guitar. When he started playing it something wasn’t right. He asked ‘what did you do?” I told him I took it to Guitar Center to get new strings, His buddies started laughing. He said it plays horrible. I was shocked. He said “you took it where?” Well I didn’t know any better. I thought they were qualified to do the work. He was so angry but I could tell he was trying not to be mad at me. He told me that he and his friends have certain people that they take their guitars to ONLY. When he took the guitar to his repair guy he said that it had too big of strings on it and it wouldn’t tune right or something.
I went back to the store and talked to the manager about the repair guy. He told me that he had two days training. TWO DAYS! I felt ripped off. I guess Guitar Center thinks its okay to hire people and train them in two days who don’t really know what they are doing. I wonder if the guy even PLAYS guitar.
Don’t make the same mistake I did. My boyfriend said, “Take your guitars to a qualified repair person, they aren’t much more money, but they are way more qualified and won’t mess up your guitar.”
