    Corporate Advocacy Program

My wife received e-mail ad from hhgregg.com this A.M 11/22/2009, stating Black Friday Pricing starts today. The ad states..."Get a head-start...Black Friday Pricing Starts Today! Why wait? Everything is on sale NOW. Shop early -Starting Sunday, Nov. 22."  On the ad a circle with "Beat the Rush" written inside. Click on the button and the Black Friday ad comes up.

She called the Apex store to verify. The lady she spoke to said come in with ad and they will honor it. (Unfortunately, my wife did not get her name..)So, I drove 30 miles to the HHGregg store in Apex.

When I got there, a young lady greeted me and asked if she could help me. I stated that I was there for the Black Friday Items. I wanted the Mustek video camera ($29.99 after $10.00 rebate), the digital picture frame ($29.99 after rebate) and 2(two) SD cards for $4.99 each after rebate. (So it's not like I was trying to by a $2,500.00 LED Flat screen for $100.00 dollars.)
She said she would have to get the manager. This is where it all begins. Right off the bat it was "yeah, what do you need?"  I explained the email sent to my wife, showed him the papers she printed out and he said he would not honor the ad. he was adamant about it. I told him my wife called and spoke to a young lady on the phone and what she told my wife. He asked who she spoke to. I told him my wife did not get the lady's name and his response was "figures".

The Store Mgr was adamant about NOT honoring ad. He told me I was condescending (I was not, he was with his tone and attitude) and raised his arm and told me to get out of HIS store, in front of several employees and several customers that were in the same immediate area.I was shocked and embarrassed by his comment. Especially raising his arm as though he was going to strike me, and then loudly stating "Get out of my store!". Is this the way customers are treated at HHGregg stores when they have questions? I told him I was notifying his superior's at Corp.  His response was "If I had a dime for every time I heard that..." So this tells me this guy has done this to other customers.

I have written to HHGregg Corporate and am waiting their response

I am eager to see how HHGregg Corp. responds to this. I will keep all informed.

Black Friday Doorbusters

AUTHOR: Kevin - Greenwood (U.S.A.)

The items you mentioned were Black Friday-only doorbusters.  The ad had a section on it that clearly said Friday morning only on these items.  As for your comments on how the manager reacted to you, you portray yourself as a saint.  Surely, if you were that upset, your voice was raised and probably said some things you wished you hadn't.

Then you claim he raised his arm as if to hit you?  Come on.  Are you suggesting he physically threatened you?

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Consumer is correct

AUTHOR: swisher43 - Columbia (United States of America)

I cannot believe what I am reading here from the employee.  To volunteer that you are an employee of the store and to be that rude and disrespectful to your customer is mind blowing.  I really wish I would have read these reports about HHgregg before my experience...

First to the employee.  Your customer had every right to be angry as your store manager was rude from the start by a "yea whatever" mentality.  He should have showed concern for the customer whether or not he intended to honor the sale.  I encountered a similar problem from a manager at the Columbia, SC store and my report is on here as well titled "HHgregg liars and theives."  Anyone approached with an attitude like that will only get more angry.

Secondly, by calling the customer a liar and treating them with even more disrespect with your rebuttal you have only solidified his complaint.  Same with my report on here.  The idea of a rebuttal is to own up to your mistakes or explain your side.  Possibly even apologize for the situation.  Not to belittle the consumer.  The same thing happened with my complaint.  You only make your store look worse by doing that... In actuality I'm glad you do that though as you just prove the complaint.

Finally, as a Drill Sergeant in the military my voice has a great impact on many young Americans.  Possible future consumers to HHgregg.  Especially since the majority of them are young and moving out of their houses for the first time and will need appliances.  And yes by discrediting yourselfs more and more by trying to lie and discredit the consumer you are making my word against your store more powerful.  I will definatly spread the word about your bad business to as many people as possible.  Which is 240 personel every 2 months by the way.

#3 Consumer Comment

Perhaps ....

AUTHOR: Windsnake - Four Oaks (United States of America)

Perhaps if you had attempted to control your "drill seargent military voice" and behaved in a calm, rational manner during your interaction with the store manager, you would not have been removed from the store. You know the saying, you get more flies with honey than with vinegar. I am sure the store will not miss your business nor your cheap bargain-door-buster ways.
