This all started on Bonanzle.com I was looking for the Nokia N97 since my current cell phone at the time was broken and I needed a replacement phone. I stumbled upon this user TROYASHLEY claiming that he had the phone on sale for about $350.oo USD. And so assuming that this site was safe I went ahead and contacted this person with the hope that the phone was still up for grabs.
After the inital contact with the person he sent an message stating that it was easier to reach him on his personal email account. Not thinking much of it I saved the email and used that to contact him for later messages.
To make a long story short, He promised the cell phone as a single unit sale. After I paid the appropriate amount, he then emailed me back stating that he could no longer send only one unit and had to proceed with a whole sale transaction, saying it had to be a total of five phones instead of one and he apologized for the problem.
I did not want the extra phones and DID not want the added expense, however, I did not think this decision out thoroughly and went along with the next payment in the hopes that I could later sell the other unwanted phones to my friends to make up for the extra expense. However, for every payment I sent (two transactions both exceeding $300.oo) there was always another excuse, that the shipping company would not let the package through for taxes and such and that I was required to pay the tax fees.
This kept going back and forth until this person took all of my money totaling to about $1200.oo USD. This was a terrible experience. HE is a fraud and he had even fabricated false shipping websites and false telephone numbers along with fake identities named Dennis O'Brian and Troy Gerrard whom he referred to as his superior.
Up to now he is still contacting me harassing me through email for more money and promising the same lies that I will recieve my phone at the expense of losing MORE money and being scammed again and again. He doesn't stop, and I am hoping that someone can help me.
Aas a student it is difficult to go through school with little money and for this person to take so much within such a short period of time is ridiculous. Although I was at fault for trusting a "company" and this "representative" it is terrible the things people do just to make money off the people who really work for it.
Why file a report here? Ripoff Report is a permanent record! Other complaint sites copy our content then remove reports for money.
