Gamestop Won't Buy Unopened Merchandise, Accuses Customers of lying and stealing Wal mart just as bad columbus, Kansas

I received a free xbox 360 from Amazon for ordering a computer from them. I received my computer, and then received a code to enter on Amazon to have them ship my free xbox 360. I had no interest whatsoever in an xbox, but figured I might as well spend $50 extra to meet the purchase requirement, get a computer that was a little better and then sell the xbox.
So the xbox came and I let it sit, unopened for about a week while I decided what to do with it. It was selling on Amazon for $200 and I didn't really want to fool with the craigslist bozos, and I thought I might wind up giving it to someone as a gift or at a really reduced price.
Well, everyone I would have given it to already had one or didn't want one. So after about a week of it sitting around, I decided to take it to Wal-Mart. It was never opened, so I didn't think it would be a big deal to get at least a store credit. Everything was going okay at the exchange counter, I almost had my gift card. Then the girl had to call over a CSM. She proceeded to tell me that I only had fifteen days to return electronics, and had to have a receipt. I had a receipt, but it was from Amazon. I assured her that it was bought last weekend. She said, "okay, no receipt, you give us the time and day and we will find you on security cameras buying the xbox. Then you can have the refund." I told her I had to call my grandparents that bought it for me and find that out. I left the store.
Then I went to Gamestop. I told the clerk I wanted to know how much they would give me for the xbox. She looked at it briefly, and said that since it was never opened, they couldn't buy it. Said Wal-mart asked them not to buy unopened merchandise because it was all clearly shoplifted from them, and the shoplifters were trying to convert the goods into cash. I pointed out the fact that if I was a shoplifter, wouldn't I be aware of the policy, and simply take the cellophane and packaging off the product before bringing it in? I mean what would I care? If I stole it, wouldn't I be just as happy to get $100 as $150? I left the packaging intact as a show of good faith that the item was brand new, and was never touched since it left the factory.
What's their deal? They could've given me $150 and sold the thing for new. But I guess they can't stand paying a fair price, so they want everything opened so they can invent problems that detract from their offer. Guess they can't fabricate lies about the condition of the product if it's never opened, so that's why they won't buy. Never mind the fact that the 'used' xboxes are all like $150-175. I probably would've taken a hundred from her if she had offered it, just to be done with it and get some quick cash. I wasn't picky.
And if I really was a thief, I could've opened the package, and returned later when there was a different clerk or sent someone else in with it.
What a stupid policy that is meaningless and easily defeated.
So anyhow, I went the Craigslist route and got $150 the same night. Buyer didn't get charged taxes, and either gamestop or wal-mart lost a sale due to me.
But I cannot believe how Wal-Mart and Gamestop accused me of being a liar and a thief. Is that how they retain customers and cultivate relationships with potential customers? I'll never buy anything from gamestop, ever. Not that I want it, but I know I could buy some of their stuff as gifts. Forget, I'll just do Amazon.

This has to be a joke, because no one could be this stupid. Not only to try this but to post on a public web site that they think they were being ripped off. But on the chance that you are telling the entire story, there is only one person trying to ripoff anyone. If you want to know who that is, just take a look in the mirror.
By the way anyone can make a package "look" new with a few dollars of worth of shrink wrap. So for anyone knows your "new" xbox is nothing more than an xbox that no longer works or perhaps even a nicely wrapped brick.

First of all: You didn't buy it from walmart. You attempted to make a return there without puchasing from them. That's fraud. You are mad because walmart caught you trying to commit fraud on them? You have the audacity to come n this site and claim wal-mart is ripping you off when you clearly tried to rip walmart off?
Second: Gamestop didn't rip you off either. I'm sure that is a big problem with people stealing and trying to sell them consoles. There's no law saying gamestop has to purchase used merchandise from you. They didn't rip you off either.
This report is clearly without any sort of merit. Especially since it begins with the OP trying to defraud wal-mart.

It never ceases to amaze me how liars and thieves NEVER think they're doing anything wrong. I find it hard to believe that the police are not already busting down the door at this CONFESSED scammer's house. Especially considering his performance at WalMart. Well, just give them time.

Here. right here, is a perfect example of one of the many reasons Walmart will not return products without a receipt.
Besides the fact that you tried to defraud them, you then proceeded to lie through your teeth.
"I told her I had to call my grandparents that bought it for me and find that out."
Then you had the audacity to try the same thing at Gamestop. You even think they ripped you off because they caught your blatant scam. Shameful.
People like you are the reason stores don't trust ANYONE any more, why should they.

Frankly, the Walmart ought to pull up their video of YOU trying to pawn your unwanted freebie off on them!
And they should ask the nearest Gamestop to turn over THEIR video to corroborate what you were trying to pull.
That's assuming you are truly for real, that is.

Gamestop reserves the right to refuse any trade for any reason. However, it would not be against Gamestop's trade policy to accept unopened merchandise for trade IF the trader also provided a valid purchase receipt for the item in question. The employee would then open the merchandise and make sure all the required components are present and in acceptable condition and, in the case of a system, test the item to be sure it works and is clear of personal data. The trader would receive the exact same amount of credit they would have if the product had been brought in used (and fully functional).

No, the op is the liar and fraud. He freely admits he tried to return something to Walmart when he didn't purchase it there. He tried to rip them off, not vice versa. Gamestop didn't rip him off either.
NO RECEIPT, NO RETURN!
Got that everyone?

I expect this kind of transaction could cause warranty grief for whatever person would buy it from Walmart or Game Stop.
As far as Microsoft knows, the device was already sold by Amazon and the warranty started.
If someone bought it from Walmart, had to call for warranty issues and found out that MS has it down as a used machine, the person would be justifiably angry. I would be and so would the OP.
Incredibly dishonest and unethical. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Oh and businesses are so innocent not trying to steal from people. Y'all condone business or creditors taking advantage of people & ruining their lives, but don't dare try that with them.

No one's trying to take away anyone's rights. The point is that a person can't return an item without a receipt. Just because someone thinks a business is ripping people off doesn't give that person a right to try to ripoff that business.

Well, Gamestop could've bought it, they could've opened it up if they wanted and sold it for used or whatever. But they didn't even offer that. Sold it as new, but opened for inspection. Get top notch pricing just below the brand new. Sounds like a bunch of kuntz running the store to me.

YOU were the only shady, sneaky, dis-honest, lying individual in all this.
YOU were the Ripoff!
Sadly, you still claim YOU were Ripped off.
Take the stupid thing to a pawn shop and get over your cheating self.
