Florida can have torrential rains and we should drive with our light on. I called for AARP road assistance after realizing that I'd left the car light on and had a dead battery.

I was refused service because I told the service representative that the keyless entry system was not working with the dead battery and that I was also having problems unlocking the vehicle with the key. The representative jumped on the fact that I had my keys in hand. If I had locked the keys inside, he would dispatch help.

There was total disregard that the problem was caused by a dead battery, a covered service. The service rep's language difficulties indicated that he was on the other side of the world and his attitude was firm that this was not their problem. "Call a lock smith".

He could care less that this ten-year former member was stranded in the rain. This was my only request for assistance in ten years. Gray Power has been sold for the almighty dollar.

Safer is better

Well, you have found out what most of us have known for years. AARP is USELESS. The insurance they tout is WAAYYYYY over priced. You can find better for less at many places. Their "deals" for members are not deals at all. Again, you can find better for less. In reality the only thing you get for your membership dues is their useless magazine. The only things in it are ultra expensive "ideas" and vacations that no retiree can afford, and their ultra liberal viewpoints that very few members adhere to. I canceled my membership long ago.
