#1 Consumer Suggestion

Do you have one of the infamous recycled Toyota sludgemobiles?!?

AUTHOR: Charlene - Vienna (U.S.A.)

I am wondering if your previously-owned Toyota may well be one of the recycled sludgemobiles. Many of the sludge victims have noted failure of the emission control components in their Toyota just before or just after engine oil sludge development.

Can you get an engine oil sample to send away for oil analysis? You only need four ounces. Check the internet for a list of these companies. The test will cost around $25.

You might need to check beneath the valve cover, too, for the build up up sludge. Are you aware of this now very well-known (but well buried) Toyota problem? Toyota came out with the "Customer Support Program for Engine Oil Gelation" in April 2002. The program applies to both vehicles purchased new and to previously-owned vehicles, too. Publicly, Toyota said that at least one oil change receipt would be needed to show proof of maintenance. A Toyota spokesperson said that the receipts weren't all that important, though.

Guess again if you believe what Toyota said publicly! Toyota and Lexus owners online report just the opposite treatment at the Toyota dealerships. Toyota employees report that they are told to *ask for every oil change receipt* to show proof of maintenance. So much for Toyota's "generous and unprecedented" program. What is "unprecedented" is the number of hoops that Toyota owners must jump through to get this so-called generous program applied to their vehicles!

Anyway, you need to check into this first. Secondly, send a CERTIFIED letter to Toyota to formally notify it about your engine issue. Glowing "check engine" lights are very, very common among the sludge-affected Toyota and Lexus vehicles! The "gas cap" explanation has been tried on many of the owners who don't know the run-around and time-stalling going on at the Toyota dealerships.

Go back to the place of purchase and see how much this facility knows about Toyota engine oil sludge. Doesn't it make you wonder what they know about the repair history on your vehicle?

The bigger question is just how ETHICAL is the recycling of Toyota and Lexus sludgemobiles? How aware is Toyota of what is going on in this regard? How much profit is being gained at the corporate level?

Someone needs to do an in-depth investigation...following the transfer of ownership of one of these sludge-prone, so-called "quality" vehicles. Someone needs to report the actual incidence of this common malady because Toyota is unwilling to give these numbers. Someone needs to track the owner complaints to look for patterns. Many consumer agencies do log the complaints, but the Federal Government doesn't seem interested in either preserving consumer rights or monitoring what Toyota is currently doing about this engine oil sludge situation.

Please keep us updated. You are FAR FROM ALONE!

Do The Math

AUTHOR: Karl - Highlands Ranch (U.S.A.)

Do The Math: This is why Toyota wants to hide the problems. (Sludge Problem & Tricking Consumers into Leases). If 3.3 million Toyota vehicles have this Sludge Problem and it costs around $8,000 to fix each engine, then Toyota would have to pay $26.4 BILLION to consumers. If one million consumers were TRICKED into a Lease since 1990 and the average RESIDUAL was $10,000 ( the amount owed at the end of the lease), then Toyota would owe $10 BILLION to consumers.

So, do the math. $26.4 BILLION + $10 BILLION = $36.4 BILLION! Even Arnold Ziffel ( the deceased pig from the T.V. Show Green Acres) could have figured this one out! Mr. Watanabe and Jim Press are happy to pay Lawyers and anyone else they can to keep this quiet. A couple hundred million dollars is a 'drop in the bucket' compared to $36,400,000,000.00 ( that's $36.4 BILLION!!!)

And keep in mind, Toyota is a MAJOR advertiser on T.V. There is no guarantee that a story will come out unless consumers band together and keep MOVING FORWARD WITH THE TRUTH! If we harness the TRUTH, the right things will eventually happen. So, let's not give up. If a single point in the heart can expand to liberate the world, imagine what two can do!

Go to the source

AUTHOR: Urbansurvivor - Palisades Park (U.S.A.)

I had some problems with Toyota and so far had one fixed and another on its way.

I first found out who the CEO of the American division was and sent him a personal letter about the particular Dealership. By the next day I had an answer and a free loaner for a week. Problem solved.

Now my second problem, I wrote to the Peresident of Toyota Japan Mr.Cho and had an answer and repair on its way, no charge.

Most Dealerships are franchises.

Both times I was contacted by Toyota America that they would take care of problem.

I no longer deal with salespeople.

Send 9News proof that Toyota is helping you so others can benefit like you

AUTHOR: Karl - Highlands Ranch (U.S.A.)

Dear Urbansurvivor, If you were truly able to get Toyota in Japan and Toyota in the USA to help you, send proof to 9News in Denver so they can do a story and others can see what you did. I simply find it hard to believe that Toyota would 'cave in' the way you said they did. But if they did, then you'll have no problem proving it, right?

Send all your proof to: 9News 500 Speer Blvd. Denver, Co 80203 Attn: Deborah Sherman

It would be the story of the decade if what you posted is true, and maybe YOU can be on T.V. too!!!
