Our van's head gaskets needed replaced in February '09.  Our minister recommeded our local Tuffy's and so we went.  My husband is a pretty handy mechanic, but with his 60 hour work week wasn't going to be able to quickly do the repairs himself, so he had already replaced the thermometer and changed the oil before we dropped off the van.  We were given an estimate for the van repairs before we agreed.

When we dropped off the van, they gave us a 1 week time frame for repairs.  It took close to 2 to complete and when we came to pick it up we were shown an invoice that was quite a bit higher than what we had expected.  They had charged us for a new air filter, oil filter and oil change, new spark plug, spark plug wire set and serpentine belt.

We had explicitly told them and had them write it down-do not replace these things.  They either didn't need done or my husband could do them himself later.  All in all an extra $360 or so added.  If that wasn't so bad, when we got home, my husband pulled out the air filter and it was black....they had lied to us and not changed it at all!

After calling and complaining and telling them we were going to call the local Better Business Bureau and the local new channel, we got a check in the mail for $2xx.  Still not what we paid for ehir thievery.

Fast forward 8 months, in October '09 we started noticing the van doing the same thing that it had been doing in February.  The temp started running warm/hot, the oil dipstick is showing a quart high and then when you check the oil it's a tan color.  Obvious water in the oil, along with the antifreeze leeking out all over the ground.

When we called Tuffy again about it they said come in we'll take a look. They had the van a week, we got it back yesterday amid constant addurance that nothing is wrong with my van and that they had done a thorough investigation into our complaints and that they had driven it and let it run and nothing wrong.  We drive home with the van running warm and once home my husband checked and more goop pouring out and more tan colored oil showing a quart high.

I've called customer service and got no where and have talked to the owner of our local Tuffy's who has looked us both in the eye without blinking and lied to us.  We have had no recourse but to contact an attorney and post here hoping that we can get some help and hopefully, help someone else!
