Albany Ford- Rip Off Artist

Last Saturday my sister stopped by Albany Ford just to look at what they had on their lot. She had no intentions of trading that day. After looking at a vehicle , they took her car keys and license and turned her over to the finance department. She was just checking prices, however, once they get you to this point they assume a sale has been made. First they added all this unneccesary insurance on to the deal so they could make more on financing.

The salesman, Richard, wouldn't leave her alone for one second to consider what she really wanted to do. She drove away with a '2000 Suzuki Vitara which she really didn't want. She signed papers but was not given a copy of them.

After thinking about it she decided to go back and get her car. She returned on Monday and wanted to just leave the Vitara and get her car. The car was there but they would NOT let her have it.

They made her believe she would be in trouble with the law...so she called a lawyer and tried to find out what her rights were but had to wait for the lawyer to call her back. She had to take off from work to try to get everything settled.

Her son returned the next day and told Albany Ford that he was not leaving till he got his Mother's car back. They asked him to leave and return later..he refused to leave. At that point they told him they had sold the car at the FL Auction.

My sister still had the title to the car in her possession..I think this was just another one of their lies. Her son realized that he wasn't going to get the car back, so he proceeded to find her a vehicle that she liked better. He found a '98 Ford Explorer that had just been traded in.

They agreed to $14,000 with a $3600 trade in allowance on her '95 Pontiac Grand Am. They also promised 8.8% APR. When my sister returned to sign the final papers, they upped the interest rate to 11.29%.

After she signed the papers they realized they had left the sales tax off. So the contract was changed again..who knows what else they changed on the contract at this time. After adding the sales tax, it made the payments were $20 more per month than they promised her.

They also added GAP insurance. I am not familar with this type of insurance but it sounds unnecessary to me.

If you go to this dealership...be prepared to get ripped off.
