As a dealership that regularly sells between 50-70 cars a month, we do have a few unhappy customers.
The contract clearly stated it was only a WRX, not an STI. The customer proceeded to sign several documents stating the fact it was a WRX model, and not the STI.
We settled this in court, with the Dealership being vindicated and proven that we did in fact sell the vehicle correctly.
The previous owner had invested money into the WRX to outfit it with better, upgraded equipment, and add the STI badge themselves. This is not something that most customers find accusatory or deceiving, the Vin number provided that it was a WRX, it was no where advertised in print, and or online as a STI.
What I surmise may have been the case, was we do receive several of these cars a month with a high resale rate. The individual wanted the car more than his ability to pay for it allowed, and we are sorry that it ended up as it did, with him unhappy and losing in court.
We would prefer to work out the complaints, and handle them before they get to this point. This individual realized that the car was too much money for him to manage, and wanted to back out of the contract, created legally and by law. He mentioned himself in the post, that he was a first time buyer. Not a typical first time buyer vehicle.
