I went to this dealer with the intention of getting a trade in value for my car. After much pressure I succumbed and traded my car for a used Tiguan. That same night I realized what I had done. Left a message that I wanted my vehicle back. Went to dealer as soon as they openened. They told me my car was gone already (picked up). They could sell me a used Toureg. Since my car was supposedly gone, I had no choice. I paid more and got a vehicle that no matter how much I try, I hate.  Found out on Monday my vehicle was still there on Saturday, but now gone.  They told me they could not give me my vehicle back. Every dealer I talked to said I had the right to change me mind and get it back; especially since it was within one day, They just wanted n stole me BMW 328xi.

Yep, they got you...

The only way to deal with these dealerships aka "stealerships", is to have a backbone made of titanium.

I am not in any way attempting to diminish the validity of this report, but the way to handle these a-holes, is to DEMAND, not request, but DEMAND your trade in back to make you whole again. If you blow this window of opportunity, you have left them an "out".

You state in the report "after much pressure"...well right there in my humble opinion, they have crossed the line.

This Dealership Didn't "Get" Anybody

       This person goes into a busy dealership to get a trade-in value on their car? So I guess they're obligated to provide this free service. The sales people who work there are there to make a living Not to provide free appaisals!!! Yes, even us low life scumbag car people have children to feed and mortgages to pay. When you drive into the dealership the sales people are there to do one thing, and one thing only, and that is to sell their product and as long as that product is as represented you are NOT I repeat NOT ripped off. It is up to you to say yes or no.  Furthermore, why would you bring your BMW 328xi to a Volkswagon dealership to be appraised??? Anyone with half a brain can see this is nothing more than a clear case of buyers remorse. This is not Walmart where you can bring back the shirt you just bought because you changed your mind. This dealer did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG HERE. You deserve NOTHING back!!!

Agree with the dealer this time

I RARELY agree with car dealers but in this case all they did was sell you a car and take a trade in.  You have no 'right' to change your mind and unwind the deal if you get buyers remorse.  They can do that if they want to be great guys but they are under no obligation to do so.

Do not let them talk you into something you don't want.  Do your research before you go shopping and NEVER make a decision without sleeping on it for at least a night, maybe more.

If they tell you - and they probably will - that the same deal will not be available tomorrow, just say, fine, and go to another dealer.  There are many around.

Other dealers can tell you anything, talk is cheap.

I guess it's subjective...

To say the dealer did "nothing wrong" is a matter of if one feels it is "right" for the dealer to pressure anyone into a vehicle.

However, I can agree 100% and it is what I also meant to imply in my initial response, that the customer can always say no. These dealers can be quite pushy but I understand they are there to sell cars. In hindsight, if the vehicle you purchased has nothing wrong with it other then you just don't like it later that night, then it is most likely buyers remorse and it may not be as simple as demanding your trade in back and expect the dealer to comply.

So essentially, I have to agree with the other replies to a point.

Where's the ripoff?

You went to the dealer to get the trade in value for your Bimmer.  I can understand that.  Done it many times and left without buying a thing.  However, I can't understand how the pressure was so great that they made you trade cars.  Usually when they show me the trade in value I am heading for the nearest exit. 

Anyway, they are under no obligation to reverse the deal.  Plain and simple.  They made money on the Tiguan and probably made more money when they sold your car. 

Not totally your fault.  They are slick salespeople.  That is what they do for a living and most are paid only commission.  If they don't sell, they don't eat.
