My brother bought a car from Cactus Jacks last year July 2006. He had only been here a couple months but not long enough to purchase this car alone. They asked me would I go on the car with him. I told them No because I didn't want this to fall back on me if he cant pay his car note. The only reason my brother went to this place in the first place was because they don't do credit checks to finance a car. As long as you have a job and can pay the requested downpayment your good to go.
Anyway, I was told " No this wont affect your credit at all. You don't even have to put your social security number anywhere. So I said fine. I gave them a copy of my drivers license, phone numbers, and check stub. No where did I put my social security number. He purchased a Daywo or whatever you call the car. Our goal was to get an American made car to prevent costly repairs. So I asked the salesman was it American made. He says yes.
A couple weeks later the car breaks down and we take to the shop to get it fixed only to find out not only is the car is a foreign car but they don't even make parts for this car anymore. So we take it back to the dealership and they exchange that for a Camero. Everything was ok with the car until my brother could not make the payments anymore. The car was taken back to them. they took the car back and that was that.
Now a year later I go to start the paper work for my mortgage and what is on my credit Cactus jacks saying I owe the whole amount of the car. I immediatly call them to find out what is going on. The person in charge of handling these issues is Sandy. She was located at the Camelback location. I called her and was told she would pull the file and call me right back. Never called.
Called her again the next day and again she tells me she will get the file and call me back. never called. So the next day i go there. I talk with her and the whole thing was bulls***. I told her we gave the car back why are are we owwing this and why is it on my credit report. She states no you dont owe the whole amount you only owe 750 in repo fees. I asked why wasn't I notified of these charges and my first knowing about it was on my credit report. Im like I never got a letter or a call or anything. She states we dont call or send letters. The credit report is how we notify you.
I told her that is not how it works. You have to tell someone they owe you and if they refuse to pay then you can report it to the credit beureau. I never even knew we owed anything. She says when you pay it we will remove it from your credit report. No bullsh**. This was no handled in the wrong order and it needs to be corrected and removed from my credit report. She tells me Im one of the lucky ones I only owe repo fees. I dont care what I owe you have to tell me I owe you first for me to pay you. And then i thought somemore where did they get my social security number from. I did not even give it to them. Thats illegal you cant search out my social security.
So right now Im in the process of of disputing them on my credit report and looking into what else I can do because they are putting a damper in me getting approved for my mortgage. They are all liars. Dont do buisness with them, youll regret it.
