On May 22 2004 I Took my friend to Carl Gregory Hyundai because his car had recently broken down. We had visited several car lots and it appeared that he could get a good deal here. The sales price of the elantra he looked at was 14,995 My friend told hin it was too much and the salesman (I forget his name) told him he would give it to him for the price of the one with the stick shift 14,100, plus they were offering 2000 cash back, 750 military discount, and 0% financing.that is exactly what the salesman told him so he agreed to the deal.

Now here comes everybodys favorite part the working of the deal with the finance manager. First thing he says is that he can't get 0% and cash back, and when he asked him why not he said that no company gives both. That is when I spoke up and said that dodge offered both when he heard that he started back-peddling and said well some companys offer both. Welll Carl Gregory also owns a Dodge dealership and I find it hard to beleive that he would be ignorant about their practices.

Lie 1. The finance manager told him that since his home state was Deleware he did not have to pay Georgia state tax. He also says the law was just changed and he would have to pay, although he failed to produce any proof of that whem requested. Sombody was lying

Lie 2 Georgia state tax is .06% when he calculated the supposed tax it turned out to be over 1,000 dollars which is outrageous. After we left I figured out he had calculated the tax at .075% apparently he wanted .015 for his own pocket.

Basicly when it was all said and done he tried to get that car out the door for 15,000 no rebates and no military discount. but he did offer a free tank of gas I know that may seen like a big deal nowadays but it is their policy to fill the tank up so big damn deal. Thank god my friend did not sign the deal with them. I think Carl Gregory should fire the GM of CG hyundai because i'm sure this isn't the first and it wont be the last deal he screws up with his poor customer relations and condecending attitude

Well now the GM will get involved and here is where all the UBER lies begin.

Auto Industry Employee Comment, when you are in the military, there is a law in place that you pay the taxes in the state of your residence or home of record

AUTHOR: Nick - Columbus (U.S.A.)

I read this report and was concerned...not for this particular dealership (because I actually work for a competitor) but for the industry in general. Car dealers, salesman, finance managers, etc have been given a bad reputation.

Some of it is earned, I have to admit...some of it is spread by ignorant and uneducated customers.

I have worked in sales and finance for many years, so I would like to clarify this situation.

First of all, each company has their policies on 0% AND rebates....none of which I am aware of offer both. Next, being in the military is a very honorable profession...we are all in debt to the men and women who sacrifice their lives and time to defend out great country. That being said, a military discount is offered by the manufacturer.

There is absolutely no reason for the dealer not to offer that...it makes the price lower and the dealership gets reimbursed...to say that they were just not going to give it to you is absurd...they have no reason not to.

Finally, when you are in the military, there is a law in place that you pay the taxes in the state of your residence or home of record.

The finance manager estimated those taxes based on federal tax charts that all dealerships have. To say that he was overcharging you just to put money in his pocket is just stupidity.

Finance managers have their work looked over by numerous auditors and the finance companies that purchase the contracts. There is no way to steal money from you when it is on paper with that many people checking it.

My suggestion for you...get on the manufacturers website before you purchase & educate yourself on what promotions are available in combination with others...also, please play around with that payment calculator, it is there for a reason...you can't get a 40,000 vehicle for 300.00 a month....we can't overcome math or stupidity, no matter how large or small the dealership is!!!!

Don't never buy any car from any columbus dealership

AUTHOR: Charles - Phenix City (USA)

Don't never buy any car from any columbus dealership,  they are all crooks.   They only care for rich people,  or people who have high paying jobs.   And sometimes,  they will try to screw people who have all that,   out of their car loans.
