A lot of what was wrong, Carmax does not check for in the many point inspection. Not because they are cheap, or lazy and certainly not because they dont care about the consumer. It would simply not be economically feasible to break every car down to nuts and bolts and investigate every last aspect. And beyond that, they have standards to their certifications. They are not going to simply replace everything just for the sake of doing it. If a set of brakes are 90% they will leave them on. This is why you are able to buy a car at a reasonable rate, and they are able to make a profit. Because without a profit, you would be stuck buying from the real ripoff used car lots.
There have been situations where Carmax is wrong for sure, and to my knowledge Carmax usually does its best to fix the problem. People should be happy that there is such a transparent business model in place at Carmax. Otherwise you would really be getting ripped off, by the plaid suit comb-over type of used car salesmen from 1960's movies.
"I was told that there was no real service done by CarMax and that I
need a list full of things, flushes, line checks, maintenance, etc and
they had to replace a bad coil."
Really, they would have no way of knowing if Carmax did any service. They didnt know what the condition was when it went in to Carmax and they dont have access of Carmax's records, I can assure you of that. To say, "flushes, line checks, maintenance, etc" tells us absolutly nothing, the line check is just a "check". They could have flushed your toilet for all we know, and the maintenance could have been replacing your air freshener. I'm not siding with Carmax, but provide some type of hard knowledge before intelligent people can really start to cry Ripoff.
