I have a 2000 Dodge Durango that I purchased new. I have adhered to the maintenance schedule. In March of 2003, only after 48,003 miles, the engine went out. I have a friend whose 1999 Durango went out only one year after purchasing the vehicle. According to him, Dodge is aware that the Durango engines are defective and thet DaimlerChrysler has a bacl log of engines that have to be replaced. Unfortunatley for me I didn't purchase an extended warranty therefore I have to pay for a new engine.
