I purchased a used 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser with 33,000 miles on it. In the first month I had brought the vehicle to service for some issues... vibration in the front end. I was told two separate times that this was normal in the 4 cylinder.
I had to take this vehicle to my closest Chrysler dealership yesterday, only to find out that the motor mounts, and upper and lower control arm bushings were completely crushed. These parts are to be good on this vehicle up to about 80,000.
I have put 12,000 on the vehicle in less then 2 years. These repairs cost over $2500.00 and that was with a $700.00 discount for cash at the dealer... Total cost would have been over $3200.00. That is more then 1/3 of what I paid for the vehicle at the end of 2009.
I called Earnhardt and spoke with Adam, who I find out called only as a courtesy to an email I sent to request that Earnhardt help to cover these costs due to the service departments error in catching this when the vehicle was in prior to the expiration of the new car warranty. He said that Earnhardt's had no intentions of assisting.
