I purchased a 2008 Honda Fit Sport that come with a factory security system. The dealer asked me if I wanted a alarm installed on my car. At the time I did NOT know it had a factory alarm. So I paid $495 for a alarm to be installed on my car. Then after this happened I found out almost 1 month later that I had a factory alarm already installed. The one I bought from the dealer was a Karr Security alarm.
Well it ends up what they installed was a stater disable, motion sensor, shock sensor and you get insurance for the car if it is stolen. So basically what I got was accessories to a factory alarm installed for $495. I was told by the finance salesman (Kyle) that the starter disable was a car alarm and that is what I paid for. They were adiment that they installed a alarm, that what I had stock was not a full alarm. And they are correct but if the told me it was accessories they were installing and not a alarm I wouldn't not have bought it for $495.

as stated you bought the karr alarm. if you look into your honda handbook your factory alarm is only going to sound if one of the points of entry is opened. 98% of all security breach is through a window on the vehicle. i mean why would i go through the trouble of busting the lock and opening the door when i can knock out a window and grab what i want out of the car without ever entering the vehicle. so therefor its not an actual "accessory" its a true alarm that covers ALL points of entry. not to mention you do get the starter disable and insurance with the deal. i dont think this is listed under the correct report because Karr security alarms are great products. maybe you should list this under the dealership if you are not satisfied with how they explained what you were getting not the actual product installed

With $495 you can go to Best Buy or a car audio shop, and have MORE 'accessories' installed in your car, and as far as the insurance discount goes its not DEFINATE that they will give you a discount. Dont get me wrong I know some do, but its not because of what type of alarm you have. Its the functions, AND having a starter kill is one of them, but most if not ALL alarms these days come with that function.
If Tony is upset about how much he paid I believe he has the right to be. His car already has a starter dis-able and its called a "transponder key" which in order to start his car, the key being used must have the correct frequency in order to start the car. I can go into specifics if anyone likes, but having an added starter kill is really pointless. If you think that "its a secondary precaution" dont you think by this time the would be thief knows what he's doing?
Bottom line if someone wants your car he's going to get it one way or another. Dont keep anything valuable in your car, and for $495 I can get an alarm made by a more reputable company which provides 2-way communication with remote start and still have money left over to go to the strip club.

Front Range Honda offers many products to our customers, including the KARR alarm system.
The 2008 Honda Fit Sport that he purchased had an alarm that was installed by the factory. This alarm system was considered a passive alarm system. The alarm is only engaged when someone opens the doors or forces the lock open. The alarm Front Range Honda installed disables the vehicle, has motion sensors, shock sensors and theft warranty, plus a lifetime warranty for the function of the alarm. The product he paid for was a fully active alarm system.
Front Range Honda fully explained that to the customer and he signed the installation agreement which states that the alarm is a non-refundable product. He also signed the paperwork that stated he was aware of the pre-installed auto-security system. Front Range Honda also provided him with the menu which fully explained what he was getting in addition to the already installed factory alarm.
Front Range Honda offers this product to all of our customers. Our customers have an option to purchase this product or choose to not purchase this product.
Front Range Honda has made an attempt to resolve this issue with the customer and he has yet to respond.
