In 1996 we leased a car from Infiniti of Scottsdale. We negotiated in good faith and left the dealership with a contract for 15,000 miles per year. In 1999 I returned the vehicle, checkbook in hand ready to payoff the lease. I had checked all details of the contract, met with someone from the dealership, had the car inspected, etc. I then purchased a car from Pinnacle Nisan & Infiniti dealership who insisted that I should return the Infiniti there and a bill would be sent to me. I made numerous phone calls over a three month period trying to get a bill. I had given them copies of all relevant documents, my current address (which they had sent monthly statements to for over a year) and phone numbers. NO STATEMENT! Due to a family illness, I dropped my pursuit of the statement. Two months later they had tracked down my ex-husband (after 4 moves and no effort to reach the dealership) through a collection agency. It took over a month for the collection agency to provide a statement of what we owed. Despite all of my efforts over several months, meeting with great frustration, I finally received a copy of the statement - WHICH WAS WRONG!!! It took another month to get the list of expenses to explain the incorrect bill. We then spent several unpleasant months trying to get the bill corrected. I finally figured out that they were charging me for a lease of 12,000 miles per year not the 15,000 we had agreed to. More frustrating negotiations and extensive delays while the collection agency investigated the discrepancy. Then we dealt with Infiniti Finance investigating, then the dealership investigating. Every time we were told that the person we contacted was in a position of authority to resolves the error, delays occurred with the result of them passing it on to someone else. During this process, we showed the original lease to several people "in authority" positions. They "researched" and found a copy of the lease which had fraudulently been changed. The mileage had been changed and our initials were marked out.

When an itemized statement was finally provided, and I discovered the discrepancy, I had written a statement showing what the payoff should have been based on the original lease in my possession and I submitted a check for that amount.

Infiniti is demanding the higher, incorrect amount. Denies that the original lease was correct. Cannot produce any records from the negotiation (as they had said they could). And will not explain why the lease was changed after we left the dealership. They are threatening to damage my credit.

I regret ever being talked into a lease. I will never trust the Scottsdale Infiniti dealership again. All I have asked for is a correct statement which I could pay. What I have received is wasted time and efforts, frustration and threats.
