I purchased a 1995 Ford Contour GL from JD Byrider in Evansville, IN on 11/21/2002. The total amount financed for the car was $8212.95 which is $3697.95 over the Kelly Blue Book retail value. So I was tipped off from day one.
A week and a half later I started having problems with the car and had to have it towed in to JD Byrider's service department a total of five times to date. I was charged $ 75.00 for the first towing bill, but was not charged for the other four. According to the envoice I recieved on 12/09/2002 they repalced a dpfe hose, egr hose and rear catalytic converter. I was not charged for the repairs.
On 01/29/2003 I recieved an invoice stating that they replaced the spark plugs, water pump, spark plug wires, temperature sensor and dpf sensor. I was not charged for these repairs either.
On 02/06/2003 I recieved an invoice stating that they replaced the control module with a used one. I was not charged for this repair.
On 02/22/2003 I picked up the car but didn't recieve an invoice.
The service manager just stated that they had a local Ford dealership (Town and Country Ford) replace the spark plugs again.
On 02/23/2003 I was attemting to start the car to go home and the car refused to start again. This is the same problem I've been having since 12/09/2002. I've spoken with JD Byrider's General Manager (Scott Reiners)on 02/07/2003 and he stated that he would do whatever it takes to get my car running but that I couldn't turn the car back in or trade it for another one of their cars.
I have been lied to from day one, I've missed work because I couldn't find a ride, I've had to inconvenience my family and friends numerous times and the bottom line is that I'm paying $280.00 a month for a car I can't drive.
