I had called the hotline for specialty financing on Saturday the 10th September. I received a letter a week later stating that I was approved through a bank to obtain financing. I called the phone number on the letter and was advised that I had to make an appoinment, plus there were things I needed to bring in. I made the appt and advised what down payment I was working with. The scheduler said, "Seems like this should be no problem" for you! I received a call from the Manager John. He advised me to come and see him only. I lived at the time about 45min-1hr away depending on traffic. I asked if he could arrange for a shuttle van to come and get me or a lot attendant. He advised he could not! All the while I was reconfirming that I was approved and would be able to drive home. I was forced to take a taxi. I was explaining to the driver of what was going on...as a courtesy he said he'd stick around for a few. After I was there for approximately 1hr or so. They decided to let me test drive the car I wanted and advised that I wanted to purchase! When it came to finalizing the deal, or as John would put it "crunching the numbers" I had been there over 4hrs. I was tired, hungry, and feeling as if I had been put in a cubicle room and was being watched for my reactions. Finally John came to me and advised that it would take 1200.00-1500.00 down to get that particular car. Or with a 1000.00 down I could drive home another clunker! I advised him I spent money on a taxi to get there, had been patient for 4hrs while they played the, "Hurry up and wait" game. I explained that I was told this should be a very short and to the point sale. In and out very shortly! After I was told they couldn't obtain financing for that particular car for me. He wanted to show me what he could do. And I quote, "James with credit like yours you can't be pickey"! I advised him if he had be honest with me I wouldn't wasted his time. I was so tempted to purchase the other car out desperation. But I'm so glad God interveened and sent me walking....away far..far.. away from that place! I did call a few times to see if they still had the car and they did. I asked to speak with a John numerous times. He had someone playing gate keeper and she slipped up by speaking as if he was telling her word for word what to tell me.
