In repsonse to this report.
As this customer mentioned, the error was made that this vehicle had a V8 engine. Once it was discovered that the vehicle was actually equipped with a V6 we offered compensation for the error which was accepted. We offered to try and find them a V8 but no promises were made as to a price difference. A few months went by and another Landrover did come in. In this customer's report they say that the vehicle was older and with significantly more milleage. This is completely untrue.
The vehicle they purchased was a 2006 Landrover LR3 SE. It was the base model with no options. The second vehicle that we located for them was a 2006 Landrover LR3 HSE loaded with every option that was available for that model year. When the 2 vehicles were new, they would have had a spread of over $10,000 difference in MSRP. We offered them the 2nd LR3 at significantly below market value as an act of goodwill.
Also, the customer has written that the owner never contacted them which I find confusing as I personally contacted them regarding the trade.
Ninth Avenue Auto has proudly served Calgary as a family owned premium used car dealer for over 20 years. We are the only non-franchised dealer to ever win the prestigious Calgary Herald Readers Choice Award and we always strive to serve our clients with the utmost integrity and care.

"Compensation for the error which was accepted" It was accepted with the condition that they would find us a V8 with the added cost of 2000.00, it was the owner who said "we'll find you your V8 but it will cost you 2000.00 more, I believe Matthew is the second in command, the owners son..
We offered to try and find them a V8 but no promises were made as to a price difference. Yes there was, the owner said 2000.00 more for the V8
"A few months went by and another Landrover did come in" it was about 5 months as the salesman was shocked we hadn't put that many miles on it or tried to tow our trailer yet (was camping season)
In this customer's report they say that the vehicle was older and with significantly more milleage. This is completely untrue. No it's not, was a 2005 with 20,000 clicks more on it with a 6000.00 more price tag.
The second vehicle that we located for them was a 2006 Landrover LR3 HSE loaded with every option that was available for that model year. When the 2 vehicles were new, they would have had a spread of over $10,000 difference in MSRP. We offered them the 2nd LR3 at significantly below market value as an act of goodwill" -----Goodwill????? The owner was kind enough to say "we will find you what you wanted to begin with" for 2000.00 more due to your sales rep's mistakes and you think of it as "Goodwill" I was told "we will find you your V8 for 2000.00 more, I didn't want nor need your added options, I just wanted a V8!!!!
"Also, the customer has written that the owner never contacted them which I find confusing as I personally contacted them regarding the trade" BULL, you never contacted me Matthew, the sales rep who sold me the V6 did, to which I asked the owner to call us and never heard anything back!!!!!
I'll Call you and tell you your a liar!!!!

The only thing truthful in Mathews reply was “As this customer mentioned, the error was made that this vehicle had a V8 engine' everything else was some “typo's” on his part I guess.
****Once it was discovered that the vehicle was actually equipped with a V6 we offered compensation for the error, which was accepted****
The offer was “ 1000.00 back and the owner said he would put us in the V8 for an added cost of 2000.00, he said that's what the additional cost would be to upgrade to a V8, yes we accepted this.
****We offered to try and find them a V8 but no promises were made as to a price difference****
Yes Matthew, there was a verbal agreement regarding the price difference, it was 2000.00, ask the owner (your Dad)
****A few months went by and another Landrover did come in. In this customer's report they say that the vehicle was older and with significantly more mileage this is completely untrue*****
The only truth to this statement is “Another landRover came in”, it was about 5 months later, it was a 2005 with 20,000 more clicks on it, look back on your files or maybe the salesman that originally screwed us over made another mistake when he called us. Post the papers online and I'll post mine, we'll compare the dates.
******The vehicle they purchased was a 2006 Landrover LR3 SE. It was the base model with no options****
Heated/power mirrors, power seats/heated windows/ air /security/ C control/ tow package. Only thing missing was Nav sun roof which we don't need....only thing missing and we wanted was a V8
*****We offered them the 2nd LR3 at significantly below market value as an act of goodwill****
Good will? Your salesman offered me an older LR3 with more miles and a higher price tag, sounds like goodwill's floating around!!!
Also, the customer has written that the owner never contacted them, which I find confusing as I personally contacted them regarding the trade.
Spoken like a true used car salesman!!!! Yes you're an "owner" but we we dealing with the Big owner, your Dad!!!
You personally contacted us regarding the trade???? the only time I spoke to you Mathew during this whole process was when you found out about it in the beginning you called and tried to smooth me over, you said and I quote“ the V6 has the same towing capabilities as the V8” you NEVER contacted me “regarding the trade” I was upset over the inflated price tag your sales rep presented and I requested the owner contact me, with no phone call returned, just ignore him and he'll go away right!!! What gets me is this all started due to “wrong information” passed on to your clients, you have the nerve to come on here and lie trying to save face, the only time we spoke was regarding the “Towing capabilities”
We'll speak again as I have called and left you a message with our new #, stand by I'll call you a liar for 99% of what you posted!!! on the phone and to your face
The owners name (that I spoke to) was Cliff Bergeron (Nice Guy, was willing to work was us in the beginning, gave us 1000.00 back with the PROMISE to find us our V8 for an additional 2000.00)
The sales Rep Doug Weber (stay away from this guy)
Matthew Bergeron, owners son (don't know him but from his response looks like.......)

Robin,
I recieved your phone message and I will certainly call you back this afternoon. If you were looking to speak to my father, unfortuantely he is retired and lives in Phoenix now.
I completely appologize for the fact that you haven't been satisfied by our service. Again, I take full responsibility for the error that my salesman made and I thought that the compensation we gave you had been satisfactory.
As far as the other Landrover went, I understand that initially you were not concerned with the packages that the new vehicle had but in this case they were there and the market determines the price for add ons. It was not a year older, if this was miscommunicated, I appologize.
I did contact you at the time Robin...I distinctly remember the conversation. From your post, it appears that you were hoping to speak with my father but as I previously mentioned, he is retired.
My deepest concern in business is to ensure that my customers are always happy. Unfortunately in this case it doesn't seem like I will be able to satisy you and for that I appologize.

You must have me confused with another customer as I only spoke to you once regarding the Towing capabilities, all communications were done with your father, I would suggest contacting him first regarding what was agreed upon before you contact me.

I received a phone call from Matthew this afternoon, he said his biggest concern was ensuring we were satisfied and was sorry for the mix up on the "not a V8" situation. He asked if we were hellbent on having the LandRover or would something else be suitable as its hard to find a V8 in the LR3 with what we want. We're not hellbent on the make or model, just the towing capabilities, he said to have a look at his inventory and if we see anything we like to contact him. His concern is whether we'll be on this website if we're not happy with the new vehicle, all we want is what we paid for. I will contact him as we've seen a half ton with a V8 and the back seat for the little one. from the sounds of it he's sincere, stay tuned.

Well we went down and met with Matthew, seems like a good guy but the young used car dealer came to play with the “I'm going to make more money off these people that we made money off of twice before” attitude, once from the Envoy that we traded in (around $3000.00) and the second transaction of purchasing the Land Rover. When I spoke to Matthew the first time on the phone and agreed to come down and have a look I informed him (to keep it fair) I wanted a $1000.00 less on what he was going to sell the LR3 for retail, he agreed, so if he was going to sell it for $30,000 we wanted $29,000, this way he's not going to make more money on the “mistake” they made and they would get the thousand that they reimbursed us for. We wouldn't have went down otherwise.
We took the V8 Dodge out for a drive and found it ok with the exception of a knocking from the front end (maybe a loose shock/ ball joint). The Dodge is a 2006 DODGE RAM 1500 SLT for $18,888 with 79723 Kilometers. (do the math it's not pretty). We went in after the test drive and he said he would give us a thousand above “Blue book value” (wholesale cost) which equates to $23,000, he thinks this is fair. We owe $38,000 and he expects us to eat $14,000 on it while he makes more money off us a third time. We came home and I'm thinking holly crap those numbers don't add up. I did some research and found the same make/model/year/options - LR3 with 3000 more kilometers on it locally for $32,995.00. I can't find the upload button to upload the image I saved of this LR3 heres the link ; http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detailinfo.aspx?ID=733565&pgno=1&srt=1&r=calgaryalberta, I will contact admin to see about uploading the picture will the info. I called him back to confirm what he was offering us and we were right, he said he has to pay salesmen, etc and I could sell it privately and “come back and see him”, for all the “Goodwill” he passes around, I believe he thinks his customers as stupid people with wallets!!!
Don't waste your time with 9Th Avenue Auto in Calgary. I sincerely believe his father created a business based on customer satisfaction and honesty however Matthew is the new owner and all he cares about is money, not righting the wrong that they created. Don't waste your time with 9th Ave Auto, they will rip you off if you let them. They did it to us and tried to do it to us again by “Fixing the Situation” and “ensuring their customers were happy”.
