We bought a 1994 toyota camry xle from quality car inc. in spokane wa. they failed to disclosed that the car had a bad motor and transmission when I specifically asked them. They said "We had the car serviced and checked by a mechanic and it was fine." We have a 1 year old son who could have been killed in this incident. We were driving to work and all of the sudden the cars transmission seized and the engine stopped running. The car screeched to a hault in the middle of the intersection of two busy streets. we almost got hit by a car. The cars engine has a bad piston ring and a knock now and it runs for 1 min before it dies. While it is running the transmission squeals and grinds and the car smokes a lot to. Heavy bluish black smoke. If something could kill my son due to this very incident i believe i should have a case on this. It was very wrong especially when i asked and they failed to disclose this information not to mention the fact the sold our car contract to an outside source without our permission to add more fees and a higher car payment that we are still paying on. The company they sold their contract to was Car Financial Services. I believe this is a scam. We would appreciate any help we can get. we didnt even have the car for 3 months before things started to go down hill.

Okay..

You have a few issues going on.

They said "We had the car serviced and checked by a mechanic and it was fine."
- Normally when you purchase a car you purchase it As-Is.  But if you specifically asked about the engine and mechanic and they made that statement, if you could PROVE it you may have some recourse.  Unfortunately unless it is in writing it is going to be your word against theirs so without something in writing you will have to treat that as it was never said.

We would appreciate any help we can get. we didnt even have the car for 3 months before things started to go down hill.
- This is your other problem.  Had you had this problem as soon as you drove off the lot you may have a case.  But 2-3 months later it is very possible that the engine was in fact "fine" when they sold it to you.  Especially since this is an 18 Year old car with probably over 100K miles.   What I am basically saying is that even if you had it in writing that they said the engine was fine...2-3 months later that means nothing.

As to this statement.
not to mention the fact the sold our car contract to an outside source without our permission to add more fees and a higher car payment that we are still paying on.
- You did give them your permission when you signed the original loan contract, so them transferring it to another lender is not a RipOff.  In fact this is a fairly standard occurrence.  But they can not just "change" the terms of the contract, so if you are being charged a different payment than is in your written contract you have a valid complaint.  However you may be charged fees for making a payment or if you are late you will be subject to Late Fees and penalties.

Hey Stupid

AUTHOR: lois griffin - anywhere (United States of America)

You ever hear of a thing called a mechanic? And certainly on an 18 year-old car! Even when I was 18 years old I knew you never....NEVER buy a used car unless a mechanic looks at it first. This has saved me from a lot of trouble. Who gives a darn what the sales person said, you can't prove it without it being in writing so forget it.

I am so tired of these morons buying a used car without taking it to a mechanic first and then coming on here and whining. If you are that stupid, why let the world know??
