I bought a 99 Ford Explorer last year from RPM at the Clio location. I even mentioned the reputation they had to the salesman there, he replied that this is different from the one on Dort Highway. I'm a single mother and I was driving a 1989 Ford Tempo and I just wanted a nice dependable vehicle to go to work and school. Six months after I got it the reverse went in the transmission. I was already paying $400/month and they wanted me to put down $200 and then add another $150+ a month to my car payment towards the repair of a $1,200 transmission repair. Where do I get that money? I continued to drive in "forward gear" only for about six months and then it completely broke down, leaving me stranded. I was making payments on this vehicle, not the full amount, but doing what I could. I received rude phone calls about being late, even though I couldn't drive this vehicle. I even told them that it was broke down. The vehicle is now in my driveway and I am voluntarily turning it over and it will be a repossession on my credit.

The shame of this is that I knew people who had been ripped off by them, but I bought a vehicle because I only needed $500 down as opposed to other places that wanted over $1,000. How can this company continue to be in business when so many people are being ripped off. The Department of Human Services who will help us folks struggling with a one time sum of $1,500 to buy a vehicle will have nothing to do with RPM, that says something I would think. I will now take the hit on my credit because I refuse to keep this vehicle, but as it is said you reap what you sow!

So please STAY AWAY RPM, they will rip you off!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

dependable

AUTHOR: Hugh Jass - Franklin (U.S.A.)

If you need a dependable car, why would you buy one that's 10 years old? Cars that old WILL need repairs, sometimes expensive ones. The dealer isn't psychic...how can they know if/when something will break? I have no love for car dealers at all, but your expectations are way too high if you think a 10 year old American car won't need to be fixed.
