We were contacted by Brian, used car manager, after my
previous review. We were thrilled when
he said he wanted to repair the problems with the van. In total our vehicle was
in the shop for a month over 2 failed attempts to fix it. We asked if they would considered buying it
back or letting us trade it in. He said
at this point that is what they would do.
I was upfront about not wanting to spend any more
money. He said would be taken care of
and we were told that their mark-up on the vehicle we decide on would be taken
off. The next day we were told we would need to come up with an additional
$5000 as they decided to NOT take the mark up off after all. I was upset that we had been misled and I had
wasted so much time being shown vehicles they knew we would not have considered
otherwise at the suggestion of the salesman.
We were told that they would be buying back our vehicle at the price we
had paid for it and the new deal should be no problem for us because we can ”just
extend the repayment of our loan” (Ignoring completely that I had said several
times that we did not want a bigger loan). Brian called us back and said that we should
just be happy that they fixed most of it, what couldn’t be fixed was not their
problem it was the manufacturers and that if we want a car we felt safe and had
confidence in we would have to pay more for something from them or the would give
us cash value for the defective vehicle they sold us, not what we paid for it
to go elsewhere.
We were told me about a car they had just taken in, a couple
of thousand less. After discussion with
my husband we told the salesman that we would spend that extra, to work up the
final number as we were getting the financing through our bank. He returned to tell us the asking price had
just gone up another $1000 from what we had been told earlier. We left.
We looked at their used car inventory online & called
about yet another vehicle. Nothing we had originally wanted, but safe, working
properly and a price we were willing to pay.
My husband again spoke to the salesman to get a final number so we could
go to the bank this afternoon and suddenly we are not being given the price we
paid for the van for trade in as we were told.
I am questioning whether they ever had any intention of
allowing us to trade back this defective vehicle or whether they thought as
long as they could get us back in there they would be able to sucker us into
fattening up their pockets just a little more.
We feel like we have been lied to, misled and jerked around for the last
5 days!
