I was looking for a car shortly after separating from my wife and my credit wasnt that good and I couldnt get financing to get a car. A co-worker recommended Value Auto Mart because she had gotten a car there, but later had to return two cars she bought because they had a lot of engine problems. The fact that they have horrible reviews online is a red flag to anyone looking for a car. I also caught on to how they don't let you test drive a car because knowing that some people who have an extensive knowledge about what to look for in an engine could spot potential problems. My girlfriend pointed out to me the make of some of the cars in their lot and even told me some of them had been recalled like the Chrysler PT cruiser which was one of several on their lot. They also had other cars that are notorious for engine and transmission problems.

The problem with the car I got was a 2002 Saturn L200 which was literally a piece of garbage and that's because it had a missing key cylinder for the front passenger side, the original engine was replaced with an engine that was rebuilt and had high miles on it, and the center console that you store things in was broken off the hinges. They do not deal with a bank the flags off their light poles in the lot say "Buy here, pay here" which means you deal with them directly and not through a bank. They sell cars that are several thousands of dollars more than what the car is actually worth. Not to mention the notes are excessive because I had to pay like $147 every two weeks when the average person pays a car note every month. There was something my girlfriend pointed out that she found online and that was another customer of Value Auto Mart also got duped the same way when she said that the original interest rate was 12% and then somehow it was bumped up to 16% which indicated that they had raised it without this person's knowledge as a means to get more money for a car that wasnt worth $10,000.

It also became suspicious when they refused to fix some things on the car which meant they just fixed what was considered necessary safety things other than that anything that breaks on the car prior to you getting it and you don't catch it is at your expense. I am seriously going to call and look at legal options for this because they sold a car that had a lot of problems and then try to remedy the problem by saying they're going to call the bank (when there is NO bank they deal with) as a way to pacify the problem and to also try to keep you from taking other measures to keep from further digging the hole they created any deeper. I would bring someone who's a mechanic if you go and look at a car and have them to look at the car and listen to the engine when it's turned on and take a mental picture of those things and if they don't sound right you're possibly faced with being sold a lemon. This dealership had been in business 50 years and someone I know from my job had bought a car from them 40 years ago and even he said the car was a piece of s*it. Be wary of dealing with these people you'll be sorry if you buy a car from them because I regret it now.

AUTHOR: coast - (USA)

"A co-worker recommended Value Auto Mart because she had gotten a car there, but later had to return two cars"

That's not a recommendation; it's an alert.

"they have horrible reviews online... they don't let you test drive... some of them had been recalled like the Chrysler PT cruiser which was one of several on their lot... They also had other cars that are notorious for engine and transmission problems... replaced with an engine that was rebuilt and had high miles on it"

How many red flags does it take for you to catch on? Apparently more than six.
