I purchased a used suburban with the condition of the sale and the understand from the dealer that the clunking noise would be repaired in December, 2001 when the part arrived from GM.

It is now August,2002 and I have been told by the general manager and the service manager that GM is not making the part in the near future or ever. The dealer has told me that thay dont know what to do or how to repair the noise???

I traided in a park av on this deal , I returned in december and my park av was still there I asked if I could reverse the sale I was told no, sorry but you are stuck with the suburban We would be happy to sell your old car back to you for $2,000 more than we bought it for.

What a nice place to shop. The dealer just opened a new car store with some of my money

Hit 'em where it hurts

AUTHOR: Joe - Clarksville (U.S.A.)

I used to work for Win Kelly Chevrolet. The best way to deal with this is by contacting the Better Business Bureau and Howard county consumer affairs. You also want to call the general manager Kevin Bell (repeatedly if necessary). When I worked there Kevin Bell was so afraid of upset customers that he would tell us "Give them whatever it takes to keep them out of my office".

Unfortunately it's harder with a used car to get satisfaction because the manufacturer is not involved. With a new car, customers receive C.S.I. surveys. The dealers bonuses and hold backs are based on these scores so they will "kiss up" quite a bit to get you to give them a good score.

Hope this helps

Win Kelly Wonderful place to Shop

AUTHOR: Kendra - Falling Waters (U.S.A.)

My family has gotten SEVERAL vehicles from Win Kelly. The staff and Kevin Bell are wonderful to work with. Maybe you should not have taken a used vehicle off the lot till it was fixed. you can not blame Win Kelly for not fixing your vehicle you can blame GM. Or maybe you should not have waited almost a year to ask for your old car back.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

I do blame the dealer, not GM.

AUTHOR: Mike - Radford (U.S.A.)

The resolution of this situation has nothing to do with whether the part was available or not. The dealer promised to repair the clunking noise as a condition of the sale. If, for whatever reason, the problem can't be repaired, the dealer must reverse the sale.

CLUNKING NOISE

AUTHOR: Gary - Ellicott City (U.S.A.)

It is not Win Kelly Chev trying to rip off a customer, this is a product related problem. General Motors has various models that have this same problem. The steering columns, intermediate short shafts, that make a clunking noise. We have had other complaints concerning this and the recommended repair was to lube the shaft. The consumer needs to understand that the technician gets paid to fix a person's vehicle. That's how he makes a living. Win Kelly wants to repair the vehicle and is paid by GM to do so.

Back when the vehicle was purchased Win Kelly made several attempts contacting GM to get answers for this repair. At the time Win Kelly did everything they could based on GM's recomendations.

I own a 2005 Chev. and have the same clunking noise. Win Kelly once again did everything they could but the clunking noise is still there. At this time I was an employee of the company and was involved with the service dept. As an employee and a manager you know my vehicle would have been fixed if there was a permanent fix.

Clunking noise

AUTHOR: Lee - Ellicott City (USA)

My family and myself have purchased over 7 new and used vehicles from Win Kelly.

Their service and knowledge of issues and problems have been superior compared to other experiences at other dealers.

I have had a problem or two when my cars were out of warranty or it was an item that was not covered or the issue was a characteristic of that particular vehicle.  In all cases Win Kelly always looked for solutions to help me.  Sometimes they could and sometimes they couldn't.

My experience has been that some people don't understand what a dealer has to do.  The dealer can only exercise the warranty provided by the manufacturer.  Some vehicles do have certain characteristics which there is not a fix.

I will continue to bring my families vehicles to Win Kelly for service.  I believe they are honest and trustworthy.
