In 2009, when the complaint was filed, there was no mechanism for a rebuttal or to delete fraudulent, vindictive, and defamatory comments about our company. I sent an email to the editor of RipoffReport.com asserting the information below about this complaint:
On 6/12/09, Auto P. I Used Car Inspections performed a pre-purchase inspection in on a 2004 Mustang for Nick Vitali.
Mr. Vitali contacted us eight days after the inspection on a Saturday when the manager was off. He demanded an immediate refund from the Saturday CSR. The CSR informed Mr. Vitali that the Manager and the Inspector that performed the inspection were off that day and that the they could schedule a re-inspection on Monday. Mr. Vitali did not want the CSR to verify this claims, he wanted an immediate refund. The CSR took down the items Mr. Vitali said we missed on his inspection: 1) Driver’s seat belt not retracting, 2) Air filter was dirty, 3) One window not tinted, 4) Tire mismatched, 5) Rear window not seeded correctly.
Eight Days earlier, Mr. Vitali was present for the pre-purchase inspection and signed the inspection report. Mr. Vitali also took the test drive with our Inspector. At the end of the inspection, Mr. Vitali was given a detailed written report and a consultation by the inspector about the condition of the Mustang. Mr. Vitali states that there are “about 90 things” on our inspection report. However, the complete listings of our 600+ points are listed on the back of every inspection report, including his. The front of the inspection report combines the 600 points into 6 major areas and 128 categories.
When the Inspector returned to work early Monday, the manager (John) reviewed the inspection report with the Inspector and found that the items Mr. Vitali complained about were either documented on the report and/or the inspector physically pointed these items to him during the inspection including:
1) Driver’s seat belt not retracting – The Inspector drove the vehicle (with Mr. Vitali) and the driver’s seat belt function properly. The inspector did note that the left rear seat belt did not retract. 2) Air filter was dirty – The report show the air filter was check and was not new but in satisfactory condition. 3) One window not tinted – The inspector pointed out to Mr. Vitali at the time of the inspection that the window had been broken (broken glass still in vehicle) and the replacement window still had the manufacturing sticker attached. 4) Tires mismatched – the report shows that the left rear was a newer tire that the rest of the tires. 5) Rear window not seeded correctly – The Inspector did not note any problem with the rear window and did not find any signs of leaks or that the window was not seeded properly.
Mr. Vitali does not mention the items our Inspector did uncover during our inspection including previous accident damage, unrepaired structural frame damage, towing damage, and the bumper, hood and core support were replaced. The report even shows minor things like the license plate bulb was inoperative.
Mr. Vitali did not call us Monday morning. The Manager, John, called Mr. Vitali on Monday morning. John notified Mr. Vitali that based on the information documented in the report and the verbal consultation by the inspector, we would not perform a re-look and we would not issue a refund.
