I am VERY unhappy with my experience at this location. Rancho Smog performed the visual inspection knowing that they were going to fail me but led me to believe that I passed the visual. Then the inspector asked me if I was selling the car (I had for sale strickers on the window) and at that time I wasn't sure why they asked me that and why it was any of their business. They continued to inspect my vehicle and it passed the computer smog check and everything was fine untill the end when they decided to fail the visual inspection because I'am selling my vehicle. They said that if I was not selling my vehicle they would have passed me but they did not want any liabilities if I sell the vehicle.

They should have not performed the inspection once they did the visual but they did, so that they could charge me. In my opinion this is very bad business as they cost me money that I should never have spent.

They are out to rip people off! I just found out they have a history of doing this to their customers and I highly recommend to stay away from using this shop!

RANCHO SMOG IN TEMECULA ALWAYS DID RIGHT BY ME

I have been getting my car smogged at Temecula's Rancho Smog for a number of years and have NEVER been disappointed. In fact, I will be smogging my Nissan Pathfinder there this August once again.

The owners/employees are very helpful, courteous and always explain any issues to me without technical mechanic jargon.

I was looking for their website to print out their $10 off coupon when I came across this RIP-OFF report. I felt compelled to give my 2 cents as Rancho Smog has been very good to me.

I can't help but wonder if the (reporting) persons vehicle had modified exhaust or perhaps had been to other places and failed before? I drive a V6 Nissan and it has 214k miles on it, Rancho Smog in Temecula has been helpful in keeping me up-to-date on my smog requirements.

I don't give my business to just anybody, I expect service and honesty!

BTW: The comment that they have a history of ripping off custromers seems a little beyond required information and sounds like "anger" in my opinion. Not sure you can TELL a smog machine to pass or fail anyhow, aren't they STATE monitored?

Rip Off?

I am also unhappy with this place. My car failed smog but that's not the problem. They did not appear competent or professional.

They pulled my car into the stall, opened the hood, and then let it sit there and idle for a very long time. While it's idling, one of the other mechanics/technicians got into the driver's seat and started playing with the ASR (automatic slip reduction) button. Slip reduction MUST be deactivated for the smog test and this extra person, who did not have a clue, was allowed to play with this before the real tester got to, well, test.

After testing, everyone seemed to be just standing around yakking about the weather or whatever and doing nothing. What WAS going on was my car still sitting there idling for no reason for a very long time. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

After the failed test, the guy offered to do a diagnostics for $80 but if it was the catalytic converters as he suspected, he wouldn't do the work. Great, he'll take my 80 bucks though. 

I will never step foot back in that place. I did not have a good feeling about them and I wouldn't trust them to change a bulb.
