I went into Standard Auto Center on Staples Mill Road in Richmond Virginia on 2/7/09 for my annual inspection. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my suburban so I figured the inspection should have only taken a short while and if it were longer, he'd tell me to leave the truck and come back to get it later.
After 4 hours of sitting in the waiting room, they finally drove my truck to the bay. I asked Jimmy Lawrence, the manager, if I should call someone to get me because I have things to do. His response "give us 45 more minutes". Okay so I wait. 2 more hours pass. I ask again, his reponse "give me 30 minutes", 2 more hours pass and my truck is finally ready after sitting in the waiting room for almost 8 hours.
They "claimed" my idlearm needed replacement, when I asked to see the idlearm that they had supposedly replaced, the technician advised that I'd have to wait a few more hours as they would have to lift the truck in the air to show me. They close at 4, so I knew this was not going to happen.
They charged me $300.00 for an annual inspection and I waited about 7.5 hours to spend my $300.00. This place should be investigated as the state of Virginia "requires" inspection but they are not holding the inspection stations to any type of courtesy in regards to people who are attempting to follow the ridiculous laws here. My advice: Do Not Go To Standard Auto Center in Richmond Virginia.
