Daimler Chrysler I PURCHASED 07 PT CRUISER 5SPD AND CLUTCH NEEDS REPLACED, AND FRONT GLASS WINDOW CRACKED STRANGELY ALONG THE BOTTOM OF WINDOW, DEALER STATES THEY DONT KNOW WHO INSTALLS GLASS IN CHRYLSER CARS, CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR CHRYSLER THEY KNOW NOTHING, I BELIEVE THEY ARE USING DEFECTIVE OR NON DOT CERTIFED GLASS IN THEIR VEHICLES, MY CAR CAME FROM MEXICO OMAHA Nebraska

IN DECEMBER 2007, I PURCHASED 2007 PT CRUISER TRADING IN A 2006 LOADED JEEP COMMANDER DUE TO ECONOMY. THE CRUISER IS A 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE CLUTCH IS OUT AFTER ONLY 4395 MILES. THE MECHANIC STATES VERY UNUSUAL. MY FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED RIGHT ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALL THE WAY ACROSS, IT HAPPENED AFTER AN IMPACT FROM ROCKCHIP.

I TOOK VEHICLE TO A GLASS SPECIALIST AND WAS TOLD CHRYSLER TAKES SHORTCUTS, AND VEHICLE MAY NOT BE SAFE. HE TOLD ME TO FIND OUT WHERE IT WAS SHIPPED FROM, AND IT WAS SHIPPED FROM TOLUCA, MEXICO. I ASKED IF ANYONE KNEW WHO CHRYLSER'S GLASS MANUFACTURER WAS AND A YOUNG MAN NAMED RYAN FROM TENNESEE STATES THAT ISNT SOMETHING WE COULD HELP YOU WITH HERE, AND SO DID HIS SUPERVISOR. IMAGINE CHRYSLER DONT KNOW WHO MANUFACTURES THE GLASS, WELL HOW DOES ONE DETERMINE IF THE GLASS MEETS US DOT STANDARDS. IT ISNT STAMPED ON THE GLASS, AND RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT THE CAR IS IN LITHIA JEEP AND CHRYSLER FOR REPAIRS. I AM THINKING OF FILING A DISPUTE WITH U.S. ATTTORNEY AND BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AS WINDOW GLASS IS CRUCIAL, AND NO PERSON AT DEALERSHIPP COULD ANSWER MY REPLY EITHER. I RESEARCHED AND INQUIRED OF DEALER DID HE KNOW IF GLASS IN VEHICLE PASSED US CODESAND HE COULDNT VERIFY. MY CONCERN THE GLASS ISNT SAFE.

I AM SCHEDULED TO PICK UP PT CRUSIER TOMORROW, BUT DONT FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR. I INQUIRED OF DEALER AND MY SALES PERSON IF THEY COULD PICK UP THE TAB ON THE FRONT WINDOW. EVERYONE THREW UP THEIR HANDS LIKE THEY JUST DONT CARE AT LITHIA. THE MECHANIC BRENT STATES WHY not just pay 299.00 and replace the glass, we gave yo a rental when we didnt have to. Yeah right
