Faulty factory paint job on my 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis. The paint is peeling on the roof and both quarter panels at the roof line. Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI. and or Jarrett Gordon Ford in Winter Haven, FL. refuse to help me with this problem. The car was purchased at Jarrett Gordon Ford in Winter Haven, FL.

You're gonna see that on ALL newer vehicles. The EPA made the car MFGs switch over from oil based paint to water based paint which is nowhere near as good as the old paint. It's "thin" and won't last anywhere near as long. Thank the government. Try and keep a good coat of wax if you can. I use to hand wax my vehicle twice a year, now it's every 3 months. Use a good wax.

As of this date 06-27-2011 my 2007 Grand Marquis is history. Since Ford Motor Company or Jarrett Gordon Ford in Winter Haven, FL refused to fix the peeling paint problem I have traded up to a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee…I will never purchase another Ford product again.

"I will never buy another ford product". I have upgraded to a 2008 jeep". As I posted before, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU BUY. The EPA made the MFGs switch over to water based paint from oil based paint. None of it is gonna last anywhere near as long as it use to. I have a 2011 scion that has a half dozen stone chips. I've found the water based paint to be much more "brittle" then the old ooil based paint. Had a 2008 tundra that had the same problem. You can "upgrade" all you want, it's not gonna change anything. Thank the EPA for this problem. I suspect dark colored vehicle are going to show more problems AND keep a good, expensive coat of wax on the vehicle will help.
