Are you kidding me?????????
According to your own post, you went approximately 4 years before you had your first problem. AND, there is no relationship at all between the warranty and the fact that you are still paying on the vehicle.
And, that problem was MINOR.
Now my favorite part! A "7 Year Battery"? There is no such thing, regardless of what the label says. AND, GM does not make batteries! So how is this GM's problem? And, how is $114 for a new battery a rip off? You got 5 years out of that battery! The NORMAL replacement interval on batteries is 3 years, so yours lasted 2 years longer than what is expected.
Here is the reality for you. Your new vehicle was problem free for the first 4 years, then in the 5th year you had some MINOR problems.
WHY would you go to a dealership for NON-Warranty repairs? You can get the same repair done at an independent shop for half the price in many cases.
And, you never mentioned how many miles you put on that vehicle in these 5+ years either. This is very important.
Advice: Don't be so cheap. ALWAYS buy the aftermarket extended warranty. I always do this and have no regrets.
No rip off here. Both GM and the dealership obviously honored whatever warranties were in place. And, nobody forced you to get repairs at the dealership. That was your choice.
As each year goes on, vehicles get more complex, meaning more things will break sooner and be more costly to fix. Thank the EPA for that. They are imposing higher emissions and MPG standards on these carmakers every year. You cannot compare an older vehicle with a new vehicle. Apples and oranges comparison.
